Come join the Aviation Federal global practice at Burns McDonnell as a Staff Electrical Engineer The electrical team focuses on building power, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, and low-voltage design in an industrial and manufacturing space for our local Department of Energy client.
A Staff Electrical Engineer (DOE) will assist project teams to create world class designs for new projects, alterations and redevelopments on a variety of projects in for the Department on Energy (DOE) focusing mainly in government manufacturing facilities. Work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting electrical plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs.
Primary Responsibilities
Perform design of building electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, and low-voltage systems.
Serve as technical support on airport, federal, and defense projects, ensuring designs meet strict security, code compliance, and performance standards.
Support project teams in delivering world-class infrastructure for Department of Energy.
Coordinate closely with architects, mechanical engineers, and other disciplines to ensure fully integrated design solutions.
Conduct local site investigations, condition assessments, and field verifications as needed to inform design and construction activities.
Prepare electrical calculations, detailed drawings, technical specifications, and construction documents using Revit, AutoCAD, and other design tools.
Perform or support electrical system modeling and analysis, including short-circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies.
Participate in or support client meetings, design reviews, and presentations, effectively communicating technical information.
Support construction-phase services, including submittal reviews, RFIs, field support, and final inspections.
