The Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program (NG-MIP) is an approved SkillBridge Program under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29 . NG-MIP is an opportunity for transitioning service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through an individual internship during their last 6 months of service, for up to 180 days. The Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program is open to all ranks and experience levels. SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from Northrop Grumman, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.
Responsibilities for this internship position are:
Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) has developed the Northrop Grumman – Military Internship Program (DoD SKillbridge) utilizing the DoDI guidance for Skillbridge. During this program the service member will be on-site at his or her host company performing an individual internship in an entry to mid-level career type role. The service member will be on the job training supporting a work schedule equivalent to 40hrs per week. Outlined below are the Goals, Objectives, and Outcomes for the program.
Goals – Provide transitioning service members fellowship-style job skills training during the last portion(s) of their military commitment. This program is specifically designed to offer internships that result in the potential to transition to a full-time opportunity as the conclusion of the training. Interns will serve as a pipeline for high-speed, motivated military candidates into NGC.
Objectives - Service Members who complete the Intern program will be highly trained, capable, future employees that align to the specific needs of the organization and are prepared to meet the NG mission “Defining Possible” on Day 1. This program provides a comprehensive internship experience including professional development, networking with leadership, and training specifically focused on NG leadership principles, company history, customer/stakeholder engagement, product and service overview, and core job responsibilities.

**DoD SkillBridge Eligibility:**
**· Has served at least 180 days on active duty**
**· Is within 12 months of separation or retirement**
**· Will receive an honorable discharge**
**· Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS**
**· Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months**
· **Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.**

**We have an opening for either a Principal Systems Engineer or Senior Principal Systems Engineer to join our talented team. We are seeking a team member who wants to solve interesting, complex problems to help protect our nation. We are a trusted mission payload and ground system provider with extensive experience providing end-to-end mission solutions from concept through operations and support. This position is located in Redondo Beach, CA.**
**What you’ll get to do?**
As a Systems Engineer on this team, you will support a very fast-moving team to help design, model, and develop the ground system for the Space Development Agency’s (SDA) low earth orbit constellation for SDA’s Tranche 2 constellation. The constellation is a mesh network of optically-interconnected SVs that will provide a resilient, low-latency, high-volume data transport communications system that will be launched starting in only 2.5 years. In this role, you will be interacting with the customer, other stakeholders, and leadership to define and maintain the technical baseline. Ultimately, it is your responsibility to drive the program through maturity and milestones to achieve the mission and overall vision. SDA’s vision is to deliver a minimum viable product on time, every two years to the warfighter by employing spiral development methods.
Tranche Two Transport Layer Alpha/Beta is part of an ambitious space architecture to bring next-generation communications capabilities to the warfighter around the globe. This program builds upon existing Transport Layer capabilities to provide greater coverage and new capabilities to the established SV network for the DoD. You will join an integrated, agile team to expand the Tranche One Ground System portfolio on an aggressive schedule. **Core Responsibilities**
+ Ensure system technical compliance with the program Statement of Work (SOW), system requirements, and manage scope control of technical team.
+ Drive/lead requirement decomposition, functional analysis, interface definition, and architecture for the ground system.
+ Performs functional analysis, requirements allocation and interface definition to translate and decompose customer requirements into ground software specifications, working closely with development teams to ensure successful implementation.
+ Independently identify and analyze technical design gaps, pain points, and opportunities for improvement to ensure the proposed architecture and solution are complete.
+ Participate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and subject matter experts in various working group meetings to understand requirements/CONOPS and translate them into technical solutions.
+ Serve as technical point of contact, influencing decisions by clearly communicating technical concepts, challenges, and trade-offs.

**Basic Qualifications:**
+ **Principal Systems Engineer:** Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5 years of relevant experience; Master's degree in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience; PhD with 1 year of relevant experience
+ **Senior Principal Systems Engineer:** Bachelor's degree in STEM with 8 years of relevant experience; Master's degree in STEM with 6 years of relevant experience; PhD with 4 years of relevant experience
+ Active DoD Secret clearance required at the time of application
+ Demonstrated experience in common Systems Engineering functions (e.g., requirements capture and management, CONOPS, architecture, use case development, etc.) using model-based systems engineering methodologies
+ Demonstrated experience with designing software systems
+ Demonstrated experience using CAMEO for capturing system architecture and functions
+ Ability to communicate, present, lead, and explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
+ Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast paced environment, action oriented, strong attention to detail
+ Ability to raise critical questions to ensure the architecture and solution meets the customer requirements and expectations
+ Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify design gaps and drive technical solutions
+ Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment and drive consensus among all stakeholders
+ Demonstrated ability to innovate and propose novel solutions to complex technical challenges
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering
+ Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Graduate Certificate
+ Experience mentoring and developing junior-level engineers
+ Experience using the Atlassian product suite (i.e., Jira, Confluence) in an agile environment
+ Experience with Ground Satellite Systems, software systems
+ Experience in left and right side of the “Systems Engineering V” (systems development, integration, and test)
Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00Salary Range 2: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
