Job Title: Distribution TechnicianJob Description

The Distribution Technician will be responsible for performing detailed designs of overhead and underground electric distribution systems. This role involves preparing field notes, drawings, specifications, and design estimates while interacting analytically with engineers and experienced distribution system designers.

ResponsibilitiesIndependently design and prepare construction orders related to overhead and underground facilities associated with electric distribution systems, adhering to prescribed standards, guides, specifications, and procedures.Apply industry standards and the client's guidelines, specifications, practices, and procedures in preparing layouts of electric distribution facilities.Prepare design sketches, cost estimates, bill of materials, and other necessary documents and reports for construction and maintenance projects.Assist in performing load studies on distribution transformers, investigating circuit overloads and voltage complaints to determine necessary corrective actions.Negotiate Rights of Way (easements) agreements with landowners and/or their agents for proposed utility equipment, obtaining necessary contact and tax map information for easement processing.Prepare and submit required reports and correspondence.Assist in the acquisition and gathering of field data from field notes.Perform tasks such as digitizing, copying, and scanning of drawings, prints, and maps.Utilize client and company information systems to track and update design activities.Adhere to the Code of Safe Practices as outlined in the company safety policies.Essential SkillsProficiency in inspection and utility construction.Experience in utility distribution and utility locating.Knowledge of construction and distribution engineering.Understanding of subsurface utility engineering and surveying.Competence in Civil 3D software.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma required.Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.Work Environment

Consultants will have the exciting opportunity to help establish an office in Iowa for one of the leading third-party utility engineering firms in the country. The role requires working outdoors across all seasons.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
