Job Title: Distribution Project Manager

Job Description

We are seeking a Project Manager with robust distribution engineering experience and an entrepreneurial mindset to support our growing Distribution Modernization practice in the South-Central region. This position is based in Houston, Texas. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of distribution engineering projects, build strong relationships with utility and infrastructure clients, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with a high level of quality. This role also involves developing new business opportunities and expanding existing accounts.

Responsibilities

Manage projects from initial concept through completion, including routing/siting, environmental considerations, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, right-of-way acquisition, project controls, procurement, construction administration, and project closeout.Build and maintain client relationships, develop new relationships, and focus on repeat work and long-term partnership opportunities.Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned projects.Prepare proposals, support presentations, and participate in contract negotiations as needed.Develop and monitor project schedules while managing scope and controlling project costs.Oversee internal project financials, including forecasting, accruals, risk management, and change management.Lead project communication efforts and act as the central connection for all stakeholders.Establish and implement project policies, procedures, and execution plans; ensure compliance with internal QA/QC standards.Collaborate closely with project teams to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.Provide regular updates on project progress, cost and schedule performance, procurement status, risks, and other key issues.Partner with department leaders on staffing needs and contribute to the development of the Distribution team through mentoring, training, and hiring support.Travel to client offices and project sites as needed.Perform additional duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, or a related field from an accredited university.Minimum of 7 years of progressive Distribution Engineering experience.At least 3 years managing engineering projects on the consulting side.Experience producing distribution design and construction documents.Knowledge of NESC code and other relevant industry codes/standards.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to present complex information effectively.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Professional Engineering (PE) license or PMP certification preferred.Prior experience working with utility clients or in T&D consulting environments.Experience supporting or leading business development, proposals, or client account growth.Proven experience mentoring junior engineers or supporting team development.Familiarity with industry QA/QC processes and multi-discipline project team coordination.Ability to travel and a valid driver’s license required.Previous consulting experience preferred.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $57.00 - $70.00/hr.
