Entry Level Distribution Field Technician
Job Description
The Distribution Field Technician will be responsible for preparing field notes, drawings, specifications, and design estimates. The role requires analytical competence to interact with a variety of individuals, including engineers, and involves acquiring knowledge of various engineering standards and practices.
Responsibilities
Prepare and modify electrical and roadway drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, graphs, and construction drawing packages.Maintain production and quality of projects, including field data, photographs, engineering analysis, reports, and departmental databases.Perform various field technical services for the operation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical distribution systems.Conduct field data collection using electronic devices for input into database software.Develop a working knowledge of telephone, cable, and communication facilities.Operate necessary equipment to take measurements on utility poles and mid-span facilities.Perform pole inspections and maintenance on pad-mount equipment.Present ideas effectively in both formal and informal situations, communicating clearly in writing and verbally.Perform other duties as assigned.Essential Skills
Analytical competence.Knowledge of National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and best industry engineering practices.Familiarity with engineering disciplines such as design and constructability.Proficiency in computer and Microsoft Office applications.Ability to use AutoCAD or similar programs.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Entry-level position requiring an Associate's degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.1+ years of electric utility or telecommunications field experience preferred.Proficient use of engineering software is preferred.High school diploma is required; Bachelor's Degree is preferred.Clear and valid driver's license required.Work Environment
This position requires working in outdoor field environments. The candidate should be comfortable with outdoor work and traveling to surrounding utility territories.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
