Job Title: Designer for Electric Distribution ProjectsJob Description We are seeking talented designers to join our team, specializing in electric distribution networks. You will support projects in Virginia, focusing on both aerial and underground systems. This role involves design work, project coordination, team development, and field data collection. Responsibilities + Perform design work for aerial and underground electric distribution networks. + Apply design standards for underground and aerial pole line cable plants, joint use design, pole replacements, primary service, and reliability/maintenance design. + Produce and review preliminary and final design drawings, bill of materials, cost estimates, traffic control plans, and utility layout, routing, and distribution system documentation. + Prepare engineering calculations and apply relevant distribution design codes and standards. + Coordinate with utilities and utility customers regarding project requirements. + Ensure engineering activities support project schedule, contractual requirements, and construction needs. + Collaborate with project managers, engineers, drafters, and other designers. + Train or mentor junior designers and engineers as needed. + Conduct field visits to collect data, measurements, and documentation required for accurate utility design. Essential Skills + Experience in Automated Utility Design (AUD) or ARCFM. + Experience working on Dominion Projects. + 1+ years of experience in design of electric utility network distribution systems. + Ability to work in the field to collect data when needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications + CAD skills + Electrical design experience Work Environment The work will primarily be completed on a computer, but designers are expected to perform field work to collect necessary data for design when required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ashland, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $43.00/hr.
