Distribution Center Wash & Fuel Technician
Position Summary: Ensures that all tractors and trailers are cleaned and maintained. Will also be responsible for inspecting and changing tires as needed. Moves equipment from DC and or fleet maintenance facility into the wash bay or repair facility. Ensures the parking lot and trash cans are kept neat and clean. Key Responsibilities: • Moves equipment from DC or fleet maintenance facility into wash bay • Will continuously use high pressure washer and wash brush to clean tractors and trailers throughout the shift • Move equipment to outside repair facilities when needed • Empty trash cans and clean the parking lot • Inspect and replace tractor and trailer tires as needed • Will operate and handle power tools (such as impact wrench, etc.) • Ability to safely back up tractors with trailers • Must be able to work in all types of weather (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.) • Assist the trailer mechanic(s) and/or diesel mechanics with light duty mechanic work for the purposes of training, or as needed • Other duties as assigned PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. while pushing, pulling, lifting, bending and stooping and using lifting techniques and move loads • Ability to continuously use high pressure washer and wash brush during shift • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.) • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment • Ability to work required overtime • Constantly required to stand, walk, climb stairs, reach, kneel, crouch or crawl • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus • Ability to hear safety horns, PIE horns, pre-shift announcements/safety messages and pages • Ability to work in a Safety Sensitive environment (operation of PIE / heavy PIE traffic throughout the distribution center); moving conveyors, heights; maintain awareness of surroundings at all times and quick reaction time to hazardous conditions are necessary. Work Environment: Factor Description Primary Work Site • 95% outdoors • 5% indoors Temperature • Controlled indoors, typical of a warehouse environment • Varied outdoors Noise • Powered Industrial Equipment and tools, Fans and Cooling Systems, horns and paging systems Hazards • Should be aware of box cutter, ladders, Powered Industrial Equipment, and some chemical exposure (ex: batteries, coolant, oil, washer fluid, brake fluid, etc.) Air Quality • Overall good; some gasses, fumes and dust present Work Surface • Flat, even, hard, inclines and ramps, ladders and stairs, catwalks/scaffolds, parking lot People • Exposure to a variety of employees within designated departments • Exposure to varied customers and vendors in a distribution environment.
