Overview

**This position will be physically located in Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP**

 

Under the supervision of the Transportation Motor Pool supervisor, dispatches all types of vehicles within the Transportation Motor Pool. Determines and selects appropriate-type and -size vehicle based on requirements. Keeps records and reports on gas and oil usage, mileage, and repairs, and provides route and destination information and instructions. Prepares DA Form 2401, Vehicle Dispatch Log, Daily/Monthly Utilization Record, prior to dispatch of vehicles. Also assists with production control dispatches under Army AIS. Coordinates vehicle maintenance with TMP customers and the maintenance contractor and ensures that the Forms required are completed and furnished to the maintenance contractor at the time vehicles are turned in for maintenance. Maintains data required for reports, such as mileage, passengers transported, and accidents. Prepares a preventive maintenance check and services (PMCS) tracker for operator accountability. Directs vehicle operations as necessary to accomplish any valid requirement. Receives telephone calls and reports calls for service jobs to crews or other personnel using telephone and occasionally radio communications equipment. Performs other duties or assignments as required.

Scheduling and dispatching drivers, work crews, vehicles or equipment to appropriate locations according to predetermined schedules, customer requests or immediate needsRelaying information such as work orders or other messages to and from work crews, field inspectors, supervisors or emergency personnelUsing telephones, two-way radios or text messages to contact employees or emergency personnelSpeaking with supervisors or customers to resolve problems, requests for services or equipmentPreparing daily work such as schedulesPreparing work orders for crew or receiving work orders from work crewsKeeping and organizing work requests, customer requests, completed work requests, charges for work performed, expenses for services performed, inventory records and other informationPerforms other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is requiredA valid Driver’s License and the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Motor VehicleOperators License are required.Must be CAC eligible and/or able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC)Experience: Five (5) years of clerical or other experience which requires familiarity with the scheduling and operation of motor vehicles in open street and highway traffic. (II)Prior dispatching experience is desirable.Requires knowledge of two-way radio and telephone operating procedures. Skills: Proven experience as a dispatcher or relevant positionFast typing with experience in data entryKnowledge of procedures and guidelines for emergency situationsProficient in English (oral and written)Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilitiesActive listener with excellent communication skillsSound judgment and critical thinkingWorking Conditions:Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, wet, tropical environment with average temperatures of 130 degrees in the summer months).Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard about ambient noise level.Physical Requirements:Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations.
