In this role you will make an impact on our business supporting decision making as you manage the functional data science capability through the application of mathematical, statistical, predictive modelling or machine-learning techniques to analyze data and generate insights. You will have the develop & deploy unique data science solutions for the business.
What you need to know about this position:
Inspire & lead a team of data scientists and analysts, provide guidance on high impact projects.
Influence standards for data modelling and design tools and techniques and advise on their application and you will work with IT to set standards for tools, platforms and infrastructure

Manage the introduction and use of analytics to meet business requirements, ensuring consistency across the team. Also, you will be responsible to adopt to enable the function to analyze data, generate insights, create value and drive decision making while you measure the progress of initiatives and market successes to the organization
Assess the business problems to be solved and what internal or external data sources to use or acquire
Identify and establish the veracity of the external sources of information that are relevant to the operational needs of the enterprise
Define business-oriented goals for initiative(s) and explain the initiative(s) to business managers
Apply your expertise in analysis of data with high volumes, velocities and variety (numbers, symbols, text, sound and image). In addition, you will develop forward-looking, predictive, real-time, model-based insights to create value and drive effective decision making
Understand the identification, validation and exploitation of internal and external data sets generated from a diverse range of functional processes and in general you will be an expert in functional data and data sets

Minimum 15 years of experience in relevant areas including Data Science, Data Analytics, Big Data, Cloud Computing, Machine Learning (time can include relevant degree studies)
At least 10 years of managing analytics teams, working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience in hiring, retaining & coaching geographically dispersed teams.
Strong quantitative background in statistics and linear algebra as well as programming knowledge
Hold a MSc/PhD in a Data Science field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Business or a related field. Strong experience in forecasting, segmentation and optimization algorithms
Expert in classification techniques, regression techniques, collaborative filtering, association rules, and heuristics approaches and their applications to real-life business scenarios
Proven record of designing scalable Data Science solutions with expert understanding of architectural choices that need to be made
Demonstrated ability to work in an agile environment
Bring experience with managing and coaching large teams of senior Data Scientists and managers and have an ability to build and grow Data Science teams as needed.
Proficiency in navigating Cloud solutions and architecture – Azure and Google Cloud Platform
Very good understanding of advanced analytics platforms/tools such as R/SAS, Python, Hadoop, Apache Spark, Databricks and familiarity querying databases
Very good understanding of critical Spark Performance Tuning on Databricks
Ability to calculate the cost of end to end solution (both CAPEX and OPEX side)
High understanding of Databricks platform and Spark performance tuning
Proven experience of creating end-to-end Data Science solutions architectures including CI/CD, MLOps etc.
Familiarity generating dashboards and manipulating data visualization software KPIs/dimensions
Experience interfacing with high-level stakeholders (Senior Directors, VPs, SVPs and C-level)
Experience in solving Supply Chain business problems through Data Science – including Supply Side, Demand Side, Procurement
Knowledge of running Machine Learning for IoT
Experience in forecasting for large FMCG companies with deployment to production using advanced and scalable architectures
