We are seeking a strategic and proactive Director of Public Affairs, India, to join our APAC team, based in Mumbai or New Delhi. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing public policy strategies that advance our interests as a leading insurance broking as well as risk and HR consulting firm. You will work closely with government bodies, regulatory authorities, and industry associations to help shape a favorable policy and regulatory environment for our business and our clients. This role will report to the Director of Public Affairs, APAC, and may assist with delivering public policy initiatives for the wider APAC region outside of India. What the day will look like Monitor, analyze, and interpret regulatory and legislative developments relevant to our business in India. Develop and implement advocacy strategies to support the company’s policy objectives and business growth. Build and maintain strong relationships with key government officials, regulatory agencies (such as IRDAI, Department of Financial Services, SEBI), industry associations (e.g., IBAI, CII), and other stakeholders. Represent the company in discussions with policymakers, industry forums, working groups, and public consultations related to insurance, risk management, and financial services. Draft policy briefs, position papers, and responses to government consultations on issues such as insurance regulations, risk management frameworks, and compliance requirements. Collaborate with internal teams—including legal, compliance, business development, and client advisory—to align business objectives with evolving policy and regulatory trends. Advise senior leadership on policy risks, opportunities, and emerging trends in the insurance and risk consulting landscape. Support crisis management, reputational risk mitigation, and issue response as necessary. Skills and experience that will lead to success Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in public policy, Law, Business, Political Science, or a related field. 8+ years of experience in public policy, government affairs, regulatory affairs, or a related field within the insurance, financial services, or risk consulting sectors. Strong understanding of the Indian insurance regulatory environment, including familiarity with IRDAI and other relevant authorities. Demonstrated ability to engage with government officials, regulators, and industry associations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strategic thinker with strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional, and multicultural environment.
