What We Want
The Director of Production leads Texas A&M University’s video and photography production operations, delivering high-quality, multi-format visual content that advances the university’s brand, storytelling, and strategic priorities. This role oversees all video and photography production, teams, workflows, and external partnerships, ensuring exceptional creative quality, operational efficiency, and consistent execution. The Director of Production is a hands-on production expert and people leader with mastery-level technical knowledge, responsible for mentoring teams, guiding creative execution, and translating strategy and data into compelling visual content.

Responsibilities
Production Leadership and Execution
+ Lead the execution of all video and photography production across fast-turn, campaign, and premium long-form content
+ Provide creative and technical direction across shoots, edits, and post-production
+ Ensure content meets the highest standards of storytelling, craftsmanship, accessibility, and brand alignment
+ Serve as the senior production authority across disciplines, advising stakeholders on production approach, scope, and feasibility
+ Balance speed, quality, and resource efficiency across all deliverables
Team Leadership and Development
+ Lead, mentor, and develop videographers, photographers, editors, and student workers
+ Build high-performing production teams through coaching, skills development, and performance accountability
+ Assign work based on strengths, capacity, and production priorities
+ Foster a collaborative, disciplined, and creatively ambitious production culture
Production Systems, Workflow, and Delivery
+ Design and manage production workflows that support both high-volume and premium content
+ Oversee post-production standards including editing, color, sound, graphics, and finishing
+ Maintain efficient digital asset management and content organization systems
· Ensure reliable, on-time delivery across concurrent production streams
Creative Consultation and Performance-Informed Content
+ Advise stakeholders on original content development informed by performance data, audience insights, and organizational KPIs
+ Translate analytics and content performance into production recommendations and creative evolution
+ Support leadership with data-informed perspectives on visual storytelling effectiveness
Budget, Equipment and Partnerships
+ Manage production budgets, equipment investment, and resource allocation
+ Oversee cameras, lighting, audio, and post-production systems
+ Act as the central air traffic controller for content, skillfully prioritizing and delegating workloads across internal teammates, approved freelance resources, and external video production agencies
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree in Film, Media Arts, Communications, Digital Media, or related field
+ Ten years of progressive experience in video and photography production, including three years of supervisory experience
Preferred Experience:
+ Five years of experience in a leadership role
+ Strong portfolio demonstrating premium storytelling alongside agile, high-volume content execution
+ Mastery of professional video production workflows, tools, and systems, including advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, DaVinci Resolve for color grading
+ Proven ability to lead and mentor high-performing production teams, while effectively collaborating with external vendors, independent production companies, and contractors to deliver content at scale
+ Demonstrated success managing concurrent production streams, balancing speed, quality, and complexity from fast-turn to premium long-form
+ Deep technical expertise across cameras, lenses, lighting, audio, and end-to-end production pipelines
+ Experience translating performance data into creative direction and confidently presenting production recommendations to leadership while managing agency and external production partners
