Job Description

The Operations Director plays a pivotal role in planning, directing, and coordinating all Production, Molding, Warehouse, Shipping, Quality, and Maintenance Department activities. The goal is to ensure the effective and economical production of quality goods in a timely and safe manner. This role aligns closely with customer service, quality, finance, engineering, and sales to support the strategic goals and objectives of the organization.

ResponsibilitiesSupervise and oversee the activities of the production, maintenance, quality, and Tooling/CNC departments to effectively support business operations.Drive world-class Operation Excellence initiatives through integrated demand management, supply chain performance, product rationalization, and application of Lean Manufacturing Initiatives.Lead, promote, and facilitate the use of Continuous Improvement within operational areas to integrate it into the culture of the facility.Support launch initiatives and strategic goal creation to identify high-impact opportunities for lean processes.Facilitate standard creation to enable high-performing teams and play a hands-on role in executing business plans and strategic priorities with robust sustainable lean processes.Drive the education and development of CI skills and competencies among key project stakeholders.Identify automation and digital waste elimination opportunities and implement solutions for demonstrable efficiency.Increase employee engagement and involvement through simple daily CI methods.Act as the primary interface between operations and the leadership team regarding operational performance and its impact on the organization’s financial and strategic growth.Develop and deploy key manufacturing metrics to optimize decision-making and drive accountability.Coordinate production operations for optimum production and cost-effective utilization of people, machines, and materials.Develop and implement methods and procedures to prevent defects and improve product quality.Coordinate actions to reduce all elements of manufacturing costs.Manage and monitor all Department ISO requirements.Monitor and evaluate individual employee job performance, including goal setting and development plans.Facilitate recommendations for pay changes, bonuses, and promotions for direct reports.Partner with Human Resources for corrective counseling when necessary.Provide direction for creating and sustaining a Culture of Quality and Continuous Improvement.Ensure the delivery of the highest standards of customer service.Perform all duties with attention to detail, ensuring accuracy.All other duties as assigned.Essential Skills10 years of experience in a related industry or discipline with a focus on Operational Excellence.Minimum 5 years of experience in an operational leadership role.4-year degree with emphasis in Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Business, or Quality required.Knowledge of plastic processing is required.Proven track record for team-building, implementing cost reductions, scrap reduction, and process improvements.Ability to oversee multiple projects.Complex problem-solving capability.Customer-focused from both an internal and external perspective.High understanding of related inspection, quality assurance, and quality management systems.Fluent in the use of Continuous Improvement tools and techniques; ISO standards a plus.Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to deliver and meet deadlines with a results orientation.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in Manufacturing Engineering is very beneficial.Why Work Here?
