Job Title: Director of Engineering (Cast/Metals)Job Description

Join as our Director of Engineering at a leading waterworks manufacturer in Bothell, Washington. This is a newly created leadership role driven by continued company growth. In this role, you’ll lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians while setting the strategic direction for multiple product lines. You’ll play a key role in driving product innovation, strengthening manufacturing processes, and ensuring our organization continues to deliver high-quality, American-made waterworks products that support sustainable water distribution and long-term success.

ResponsibilitiesProvide strategic leadership and direction for a team of 15–20 engineers and technicians, with 60% of the role focused on leadership and 30-40% on hands-on contributions.Lead product development initiatives from concept through full-scale production, ensuring cost, quality, and performance objectives are met.Apply technical expertise to integrate innovative features, resolve production challenges, and establish engineering standards.Drive process improvements, cost reduction initiatives, and ROI analysis for new tooling and equipment.Collaborate with sales, operations, marketing, and quality teams to align product development with customer and market needs.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.10+ years of engineering experience, including at least 3+ years in a people management or leadership role.Experience engineering cast, machined, or fabricated metal components in a manufacturing environment.Experience with product lines and new product launches.Experience with risk mitigation, risk assessment, data analysis, and budgets.Strong problem-solving skills with a proven ability to drive process and organizational improvements.Effective communication and collaboration skills.Proficiency in SolidWorks and standard office tools.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with casting, welding, forming, rubber, bare metal.Experience leading multiple product lines and new product launches.Proficiency in welding, casting, rubber, coating, bare metal, industrial, waterworks, design, mechanical, quality assurance, conformity inspections, piping, risk mitigation, BOMs, fabrication, and stakeholder management.Work Environment

Production / Industrial Manufacturing work environment. Team members often engage in hands-on tasks, which can result in grease stains on their clothing. Standard working hours are Monday-Friday, 7:00 am-3:30 pm.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Bothell, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $190000.00/yr.
