Intercollegiate Athletics Operations Director of Athletic Compliance Ball State University

Ball State University offers the opportunity to join an NCAA Division I, Football Bowl Subdivision program committed to integrity, accountability, and student-athlete success. The Director of Athletics Compliance plays a key role in supporting the Department’s adherence to NCAA, Mid-American Conference, and University regulations by providing rules education, assisting with the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures, and serving as a primary point of contact for student-athlete eligibility and related processes. Reporting to the Sr. Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Student-Athlete Development, this position provides the chance to collaborate with coaches, staff, and student-athletes while helping maintain a culture of compliance that protects the interests of the University and its athletics programs.

Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Maintain within Ball State University’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics a culture of compliance with NCAA, Mid-American Conference, and university regulations through effective provision of continuing rules education for all Ball State Department of Intercollegiate Athletics employees; support the development and provision of a compliance orientation program for all new Ball State Department of Intercollegiate Athletics employees; support the development and provision of continuing rules education for Ball State university student-athletes; support development and provision of rules education for representatives of Ball State University’s athletics interests. 2. Participate in the development and implementation of Intercollegiate Athletics compliance and eligibility policies and procedures to ensure full compliance with all NCAA and MAC regulations, including but not limited to analyzing athletics compliance enforcement issues. 3. Serve as the point of contact in all matters dealing with student-athlete initial eligibility, pre-enrollment amateurism, waivers, transcript review and eligibility center communications. Also serve as point of contact with Playing & Practice season education, monitoring and enforcement. 4. Develop and deliver educational programs to student-athletes, coaches, athletics administrators, staff and others having relationships with the athletics program about university, conference and NCAA rules and regulations. 5. Support NCAA Financial Aid and Revenue Distribution, and Academic Performance Program Reporting as needed. 6. Serve as a liaison with university units such as Student-Athlete Support Services, Admissions, Office of the Registrar and Rinker Center for Global Affairs (International Programs), etc. 7. Facilitate matters associated with academic and athletic financial aid, foundation scholarships, book scholarships, equipment loans, etc. 8. Serve as compliance liaison for department-wide camps and clinics. 9. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: 1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. 2. Two years of experience in NCAA Division I compliance.

Preferred Qualifications: 1. Master's degree from an accredited college or university. 2. Three to five years of experience in NCAA Division I compliance. 3. Excellent written and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; working knowledge of NCAA programs/applications; working knowledge of software systems such as ARMS, Banner, and Compliance Assistant; Excellent organizational skills; Ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced and demanding environment; Knowledge and familiarity with current and interim NCAA Division I policies and rules, interpretations and education columns.
