4 Year Degree Defiance College is seeking an energetic and creative music professional to serve in the newly-created position of Director of Athletic Bands. Reporting to the Director of Athletics the Director will have responsibility for the leadership, development, and management of all athletic band programs at Defiance College. This will include Marching Band, Pep Band, Color Guard, and Twirlers. Responsibilities include recruiting, training, and retaining student participants; preparing ensembles for athletic events; coordinating all performance logistics; budget development and management; and inventory management. The Director will be expected to create and foster a positive and healthy program culture that promotes student well-being and supports a balanced collegiate experience.

This is a full-time appointment which will require the incumbent to work evenings, weekends, and non-traditional hours aligned with athletic events. The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in music, music education, or a related field. Experience directing or coaching marching band, pep band, color guard, or similar performance-based programs is required and collegiate or high school band leadership experience is strongly preferred.
