Role Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and energetic leader with vision, ready to join the Technology Platform leadership group, to build and enhance Service Observability capabilities across our technology landscape, driven by a well-defined, scalable architecture, effective tools and technologies, as well as strong skills and resources.

Innovations in the cross-border payments landscape are introduced, new technology enables new opportunity.  At the same time, the industry – and Swift – navigate through uncertainty (permacrisis), and Swift keeps relentless focus and strong track records on the reliability and resiliency of our services and platform, and our technology infrastructure and capabilities undergo transformation. 

With increasing complexity of our platforms and service portfolio, observability and real-time insights in infrastructure and applications are crucial to ensure seamless operations, fast impact assessment and service recovery. This requires significant investments in enhancing our observability solutions.

We want to provide real-time insights into our complex technology stack, enabling proactive issue detection and impact assessment. In addition, we want to enable machine learning and AI to detect, prevent, self-heal and recover fast through automation, if failures occur.

What to Expect:

To lead the Service and Infrastructure Observability initiative (global virtual team), and to materialize our ambition explained above. This requires a vision with stakeholder buy-in, a roadmap across tools, processes, people, skills, and mindset.  To be accountable for the Service Observability outcomes, lead a transversal team with vision, co-create and deliver with buy-in and collaboration.To justify, secure and manage required investments in the initiative, do what it takes to have all stakeholders onboard, and keeping all up to date on where we stand.To be a Role-model our corporate values and leadership behaviors in managing people and setting them to be successful.  

What will make you successful?

Relevant expertise: A university degree, preferably in Information Technology or Engineering with minimum 10 years of relevant experience.Strong vision and Leadership skills – You demonstrated strategizing, transforming, setting direction in terms of how to operate and run technology services.  You can be bold and fast in execution and bring strong proven transformation experience. Ideally in a mission-critical environment. IT Observability Experience – Experience in Monitoring and Observability solutions. Knowledge of Elasticsearch is a plus. A Servant leadership style - You can empower teams, inspire, and challenge.  You can lead without authority in a complex environment. Agile practices to navigate the complexities of a large program – You have experience with installing predictable delivery, assessing & improving way of working continuously, ensuring that progress, challenges, and impediments are transparently communicated.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, thoughtful stakeholder management – You are equipped to engage with engineers, senior audiences, diverse internal stakeholders. You create buy-in, listen to customer needs. Proven track record of engaging and managing stakeholders across a geographically dispersed organization with effective communication and relationship management.
