Director – Veeva Platform and CoE GCC

Role Summary:

In Pfizer Digital Research & Development, we work with our R&D partners to accelerate drug development and clinical trials through digital products and solutions. Within the overall Pfizer Digital R&D Creation Center, the Veeva Platform and CoE organization focuses on driving enterprise needs for Veeva Platform, governance, and delivery across the value chain from discovery through implementation, support, release management, and innovation.

As Director of the Veeva Platform CoE GCC, you will lead high-performing Veeva Platform and CoE GCC teams and partner with global product owners, solution architects, security/compliance teams, and Veeva to drive portfolio value, platform standardization, and continuous improvement across R&D and PGS domains. You will define operating models and governance, shape platform roadmaps, and ensure long-term scalability and compliance.

You will scale the GCC through talent strategy, coaching, and knowledge management while operating in a global follow-the-sun model with partial US/EU overlap. Clear, influential communication with senior stakeholders will be essential to deliver strategic outcomes and business impact.

You will provide support on multiple areas for Veeva Platform and CoE function including but not limited to audit and inspection readiness, and establish data-driven KPIs to measure performance, risk, and adoption. To excel, you bring strong service delivery leadership (SLA management, RCA and problem management, capacity management, cloud software operations and releases in a GxP environment) and deep system architecture expertise. Effective relationships with Product managers, R&D Digital leadership, Client Partners, and the R&D business community are critical.

Key Responsibilities:

Overall Leadership

Lead, under guidance of Global Veeva Platform and CoE Leader, the GCC Strategy and Operations for support operations for Veeva Platform, and any technical or other tasks related to areas like cross Vault items, data, content, release management and Veeva CoE to ensure service quality and delivery SLAs adherence.

Release Execution Governance:

For Veeva Platform, Data, Releases, ECM and Veeva CoE, to enable consistency, accuracy, quality and timeliness of service delivery. Support communication of release plans, progress, and status to stakeholders, including technical and non-technical audiences.

Technical and Compliance Leadership:

Provide technical leadership for release management and compliance, including release and backlog governance and GxP compliance; define and refine release processes and methodologies; track industry trends and implement innovative, compliant practices.

System Implementation Support:

Support Veeva Implementation across Regulatory, Clinical and Quality with the Product and Platform  teams in lifecycle management of Veeva systems in accordance with digital procedures.

System Operations Oversight:

Govern day-to-day operations at scale across global business units, including business support, incident/RCA/problem management, SLA performance, and continuous service improvements; anticipate internal/external business challenges and apply best practices to improve products, processes, and services across geographies and cultures.

Stakeholder Management & Executive Communication:

Communicate complex, cross-business-unit concepts; influence senior management decisions that shape business direction; communicate release plans, progress, and status for technical and non-technical audiences.

Risk and Resilience Management:

Support cybersecurity alignment, privacy compliance, periodic access reviews, disaster recovery and business continuity planning, and manage on-call rotations; proactively identify and mitigate operational risks and bottlenecks to ensure secure, uninterrupted operations.

Financial and Resource Management:

Manage Veeva GCC annual budgets, resource planning, and sourcing strategies (employees/contractors/partners); optimize throughput and unit cost while maintaining quality and compliance.

Qualifications and Experience:

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

15+ years’ experience, including 8+ years with increasing responsibility in designing, delivering, and maintaining large-scale, global R&D systems and platforms.

7+ years of progressive experience in Veeva implementation and/or support across multiple Vaults (RIM, Clinical Operations, Quality), program management, technical support, and release management.

Extensive experience in IT roles such as GCC Lead, support leader, release director, systems engineer, engineering lead, technical team lead, infrastructure lead.

Experience managing teams and financials for contract and colleague resources.

Technical Skills Requirements:

Technology solutions delivery in a pharmaceutical R&D or regulated environment with demonstrated capabilities managing large-scale, enterprise software requirements, designs, and implementations.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships, influence outcomes, and deliver effective presentations to varied audiences.

Ability to lead in a complex, matrix environment with indirect resources geographically distributed.

Demonstrated progressive experience successfully managing software development projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

As above, including a Master’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Engineering, Technology Management, or relevant disciplines.

Overall:

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish relationships, influence outcomes, and deliver effective presentations to varied audiences.

Ability to work constructively and collaboratively and influence resources outside of the immediate span of control.

Ability to lead in a complex, matrix environment with geographically distributed resources.
