Job Family Definition:

The job family spans across multiple engineering disciplines. Work consists of designing, developing, analyzing, troubleshooting and debugging systems, software and solutions for research and/or research development of product, services, and solutions for HPE’s portfolio. Requires a broad knowledge and application of engineering disciplines, methodologies and tools.

The Director will lead the design, and delivery of a modern digital customer portal that serves as the primary interface for customers throughout their lifecycle, enabling customer success and engagement. This platform will feature modern UI/UX, be mobile-ready, and provide personalised experiences for customers, partners, Managed Service Providers (MSPs), and employees. The role requires expertise in web and digital technologies, omnichannel engagement, CRM and ERP integration, and software development best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Strategy & Architecture

Define the technology roadmap for the digital portal as the primary customer engagement platform.Architect a scalable, secure, and high-performance solution leveraging modern web technologies and cloud infrastructure.Ensure integration with CRM, ERP, and other enterprise systems for a unified experience.

Customer Lifecycle Enablement

Design features and services that support the entire customer lifecycle—from onboarding to support and success.Implement self-service capabilities, personalised dashboards, and proactive engagement tools.

Modern UI/UX & Mobile Readiness

Deliver a responsive, mobile-first design with intuitive navigation and accessibility.Ensure consistent, modern UI/UX standards across all devices and channels.

Omnichannel Experience

Enable seamless interactions across web, email, mobile, chat, social, cloud connect, customer API and voice channels.Drive personalisation for customers, partners, MSPs, and employees using data-driven insights.

Software Development & Delivery

Lead end-to-end development lifecycle using Agile methodologies.Oversee front-end and back-end development, API integrations, and micro-services architecture.Establish coding standards, security protocols, and quality assurance frameworks.

Integration & Data Management

Ensure real-time data synchronisation between portal, CRM, ERP, and support systems.Implement data governance, compliance, and security measures.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

Introduce AI-driven features (search, chatbots, agentic frameworks, predictive analytics) to enhance customer experience.Drive POCs and innovation initiatives for emerging web technologies.

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

Build and lead a high-performing engineering team.Collaborate with business, IT, and vendor partners to deliver strategic objectives.

Performance & Reporting

Define KPIs for platform adoption, customer engagement, and operational efficiency.Provide dashboards and reports for leadership visibility.

Education and Experience Required:

First level university degree or equivalent experience required. May have advanced university degree.Typically 15 or more years of related work experience, including 10 years of people management experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

Strong leadership skills, including coaching, team-building, and conflict resolution.Organizational and strategic management skills, including budget and business planning and forecasting.Strong analytical and problem solving skills.Ability to manage human capital across multiple geographies and organizations to drive workforce development and achieve desired results.Advanced communication skills catered to a wide variety of audiences. (e.g. written, verbal, presentation); mastery in English and local language.Extensive business acumen, technical knowledge, and industry experience encompassing one or more engineering, technology, and product domains.Advanced multi-tasking and prioritization skills.Advanced relationship management skills, including partnering and consulting with senior management and executive roles for internal and external partners.Good understanding of the company's policies and processes.

Impact/Scope:

Collaborates across functions to deliver multidisciplinary engineering solutions.Typically interacts with high-level Individual Contributors, Managers, Directors, and VPs and SVPs for internal and external suppliers, partners, and customers.Drives large and complex cross-organizational business initiatives.

Leads highly-complex multidisciplinary engineering development, support, and improvement activities and organizations.Anticipates operational needs and impact on the business and function or department.
