WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
This is a key leadership role within the Corporate Support Financial Control team reporting to the VP – Corporate Support Controller. You will lead a high-performing finance team and manage critical financial governance and controls that support the accuracy and completeness of Corporate Support's balance sheet and income statement. You'll provide strategic financial oversight, ensure compliance with SOX and regulatory requirements, and serve as the primary accounting authority for the Corporate Support Platform. This role offers significant visibility across RBC, the opportunity to drive process improvements, and the chance to mentor and develop talented finance professionals. You'll work in a fast-paced environment where your decisions directly impact enterprise-wide financial reporting and controls.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Lead the month-end close process for the Corporate Support Platform, ensuring accurate and complete financial and regulatory reporting, including development of P&L and balance sheet monitoring processesManage the monthly global attestation and reconciliation process for the Platform, ensuring compliance with Enterprise standardsProvide oversight and strategic direction for the control environment, ensuring SOX and audit compliance requirements are metAct as the main contact for global incentive programs (long-term and short-term bonus) and Enterprise income protection accrualsCoordinate with multiple groups (FRR, FSS, Performance Management, other Financial Control groups) to ensure accurate external reporting including MD&A, financial statements, note disclosures, and regulatory reportingReview accounting policy issues and maintain technical accounting knowledge to provide interpretation, guidance, and advice on complex transactionsEnsure global financial control policies are in place and adhered to, including SOX and End User Control complianceEffectively manage and develop a team of approximately five finance professionals to foster a high-performance cultureLead special projects and process improvements as assigned by the VP – Corporate Support ControllerWHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
Must have:
Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modelingStrong demonstrated ability in written and oral communication skills with excellent presentation capabilitiesDeep understanding of accounting policy, SOX compliance, and financial controlsStrong organizational, project management, and time management capabilitiesDeadline-driven, results-oriented mindset with ability to maintain high quality standards while handling multiple prioritiesNice-to-have:
Experience working in a matrix environment within a large, publicly-traded corporationAbility to facilitate between and influence key decision makers across functional areasStrategic thinking with excellent interpersonal skills to work across multiple business unitsPrior experience in month-end close or regulatory reporting rolesWhat’s in it for you?
