The anticipated salary range for this position is $160,000 - 200,000 plus annual incentive bonus and potential LTI. Actual compensation offered may vary based on job related factors such as experience, skills, education and location.

Summary

Develops and implements enterprise-wide logistic sourcing strategies. Owns sourcing strategy for assigned areas with core focus on transportation and supply chain partners. Manages the sourcing process for carriers, from supplier/service evaluation to negotiating contracts and compliance monitoring. Coordinates and manages the ongoing supplier management process. Maintains an understanding of enterprise needs, relevant industries, and best practices. Manages logistics and carrier sourcing efforts and relationships. Successfully liaise between the site locations and corporate to implement updates to routing changes as needed to support business initiatives. Assuring that we avoid disruption to customer service levels and metrics.

Core Responsibilities

Responsibilities include strategic sourcing, contract management, supplier performance, and operational support detailed as follows:

1. Strategic Sourcing and Market Intelligence:

Performs market research on assigned logistic and supply chain categories.Identifies qualified suppliers for participation in sourcing events.Networks externally to facilitate competitive intelligence: best practices, emerging/potential sources of competitive advantage, market pricing, etc.Works with internal customers and business units to formulate short to long-term sourcing strategies for external suppliers/service providers.Develops effective working relationships with key decision makers/influencers, line of business executives, and subject matter experts. 

2. Contract Negotiations and Lifecycle Management:

Responsible for supporting transportation procurement for all Owens & Minor Business Units.Support Initiatives and manage the contract lifecycle.Leads contract negotiations using a variety of techniques, including multi-round competitive bidding Request for Information processes; manages and facilitates cross-functional teams in the pursuit of corporate procurement categories; maintains the highest degree of ethical standards and adherence to Owens & Minor policies in the conduct of corporate procurement projects. 

3. Supplier Performance and Compliance Monitoring:

Monitors significant developments among suppliers, i.e. financial results, management turnover, and product line strategies.Monitors supplier compliance with established agreements to include service levels, outages or other unusual events, customer satisfaction levels, supplier responsiveness, accuracy and timeliness of invoices, and invoice processing efficiency.Monitors organizational compliance with established vendor agreements, including adherence to contract terms, meeting requirements for self-audit and true-up, and timeliness of invoice payment. 

4. Operational Support, Technology, and Reporting:

Provides training and tools to business users and internal customers to support procurement processes.Provides management and administrative support for technology tools that support the supplier and contract management processes.Tracks and reports savings for assigned categories.Running queries in financial systems

Qualifying Experience

Procurement and Logistics Expertise (Technical Skills): This category covers the foundational knowledge, systems, and functional skills required to manage the supply chain 

7 or more years of experience in procurement and negotiation of indirect goods and services or in business areas related to supply chain (sourcing, healthcare, logistics, warehouse operations, inventory management, etc.)Experience planning and managing shipments with a Transportation Management System.Experienced with a transportation management system.Knowledge of transportation pricingKnowledge of DOT regulations, particularly Hours of Service and the shipment of hazardous materials.Knowledge of common logistics related documentation, including Bill of Lading, standard claims formsInternational regulatory experience/exposure preferred.Broad understanding of carriers and logistic service providers.Strong analytical and negotiation skillsDemonstrated ability to conduct Requests for Procurement and Request for Information processes.Demonstrated ability to conduct competitive bidding processes in an unbiased and ethical manner.Ability to read and write contracts and agreements.Proficient with MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Fundamental understanding of financial systems data, accounting processes, and e-procurement technologiesUnderstands principles of accounting, including the ability to read and analyze financial statements of suppliers.Financial analysis skills, including the ability to prepare complex financial models

Education and Professional Credentials: This category outlines the formal education, certifications, and qualifying experience required. 

Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.CSCMP, AICS, and CPSM certifications preferred.Or an equivalent combination of education and experience to meet the above requirements.Ability to meet deadlines and perform under pressure.Ability to discern errors within complex or detailed work.Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to demonstrate effective research, organization and project management skills.
