The Director, Perioperative Services provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all facets of Perioperative Services, including Main OR, Belle harbor OR and GI& Endoscopy, Sterile Processing, ACU, PACU, and Anesthesia and etc. This role is responsible for directing high-performing, multidisciplinary teams across two sites to ensure the delivery of safe, high-value, quality patient care. The Director partners closely with physicians, medical staff, and hospital leadership to advance operational excellence, promote innovation, and support growth across all related service areas.
Key Responsibilities
Provide administrative and nursing leadership to interdisciplinary teams across two campuses and affiliates.
Participate in system-sponsored nursing and operational initiatives; help establish goals and standards to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
Develop and maintain partnerships with physicians, leaders, and staff to drive collaboration and resolve
operational challenges.
Lead strategic planning around Perioperative Services in collaboration with senior leadership, addressing both short- and long-term business, operational, and capital priorities.
Establish policies and procedures to support safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
Manage operating and capital budgets; ensure financial goals are achieved and variances systematically
addressed.
Optimize patient access, throughput, block utilization, asset management, and performance improvement using data-driven approaches.
Support and develop Directors and managers to enhance team engagement, development, and succession planning.
Implement operational governance and streamlined decision-making to efficiently execute growth strategies and maintain marketplace competitiveness.
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (required)
Master’s degree in Nursing (strongly preferred)
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in VA or multi-state/compact license
Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of recent, relevant Healthcare Leadership experience required
8-10 years of Healthcare Leadership strongly preferred
Experience leading large, distributed, multi-disciplinary clinical teams preferred.
Skills & Knowledge
Strong clinical proficiency and capacity to coordinate care consistent with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
In-depth knowledge of clinical operations, workflows, and their impact on system-wide performance.
