Title and Summary

Director, Strategic Government Partnerships

Mastercard is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to join its Public Sector pillar under Mastercard Strategic Growth (MSG) as Director for Strategic Government Partnerships in the Asia Pacific region. This role is central to MSG’s mandate to drive digital transformation, deepen relevance with governments, and accelerate long‑term market growth through strategic partnerships.
As part of MSG’s Public Sector pillar, the Director will advance Mastercard’s thought leadership and strengthen MSG’s position as a trusted advisor to governments across the Asia Pacific region. The role will design and execute high‑impact, multi market initiatives that accelerate digital economy development across the India–ASEAN corridor—one of MSG’s strategic cross border growth priorities.

Key Responsibilities
•\tThought Leadership & Advocacy
o\tPosition Mastercard as a trusted advisor to governments and public sector stakeholders in India and ASEAN.
o\tDevelop and deliver insights, frameworks, and programs that promote digital economy acceleration and inclusive growth.
o\tRepresent Mastercard at regional forums, industry events, and policy dialogues to influence and shape the digital agenda.
•\tStrategic Program Development
o\tDesign and implement a flagship program that drives collaboration between India and ASEAN on digital transformation initiatives.
o\tIdentify and prioritize opportunities for cross-border integration in areas such as:
\tTravel & Tourism: Enable seamless digital payment solutions for travelers.
\tTrade & Commerce: Support secure, interoperable payment ecosystems for businesses.
\tPolicy Enablement: Promote harmonized regulations and standards to drive healthy economic growth.
•\tPartnership Building
o\tEngage with partners such as governments, multilateral organizations, and industry associations.
o\tBuild coalitions that encourage innovation and shared best practices across markets.
•\tRegional Leadership
o\tServe as the primary liaison for public sector initiatives within Asia Pacific, ensuring alignment with global MSG priorities.
o\tPartner with internal teams such as Product, Market Development and Communications to deliver integrated, high-impact outcomes.

All About You
•\t12+ years in public sector engagement, policy advocacy, or strategic government partnerships, with experience working in government ministries or agencies
•\tProven ability to engage senior‑level government stakeholders and drive transformative initiatives
•\tStrong track record of building coalitions and partnerships with diverse stakeholders
•\tDeep understanding of fintech solutions, digital economy frameworks, cross-border commerce, and regulatory landscapes in Asia Pacific.
•\tExceptional communication, thought leadership, and stakeholder‑management capabilities
•\tAbility to operate effectively within complex, matrixed environments
•\tExperience in consultative selling and solution development for complex client needs
•\tStrong project leadership and execution skills across functional, geographic, and cultural contexts
•\tMasters degree in Business, Economics, Communications, Public Policy, or related field preferred.
