**What you'll do...**
At **Sam’s Club** , we are transforming how intelligent retail supply chains operate at scale. As **Director of Engineering, Supply Chain Platforms – Planning, Inventory & Optimization** , you will lead the vision and execution of critical platforms that drive **inventory management** , **planning agility** , **fulfillment accuracy** , and **end-to-end visibility** .
You will be responsible for leading a high-performing global team that builds and operates robust, AI-powered, data-driven systems. This includes platform foundations for **Data Engineering** , **Advanced Analytics** , **Machine Learning** , **Generative AI** , and **Agentic AI** —all while setting the bar for **engineering and operational excellence** .
**What You’ll Do**
+ **Architect, build, and scale platform solutions** for **Planning** , **Inventory Management** , **Allocation** , **Fulfillment Optimization** , and **E2E Visibility** .
+ Lead development of **data engineering infrastructure** to unify internal and external data sources, supporting real-time analytics, demand forecasting, and intelligent planning.
+ Partner with data science and ML teams to **operationalize models** for replenishment, allocation, substitution, and network optimization.
+ Build and integrate **advanced analytics capabilities** —powering scenario modeling, forecasting, decision simulation, and supply chain diagnostics.
+ Embed **Generative AI** to create smart assistants and summarization tools for planners and operators.
+ Implement **Agentic AI systems** that autonomously orchestrate supply chain workflows and automate decision-making.
+ Drive **engineering excellence** through robust software design, modular architectures, scalable systems, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
+ Deliver **operational excellence** by enforcing strong observability, incident management, uptime SLAs, and system reliability metrics.
+ Collaborate with stakeholders across Product, Data Science, Operations, and Analytics to align technical delivery with business strategy.
+ Lead and mentor a **global engineering organization** across the US and India with a culture of accountability, innovation, and impact.
**What You’ll Bring**
+ Proven experience in building and scaling **data-intensive platform systems** across **supply chain domains** like planning, inventory, or fulfillment.
+ Strong expertise in **Data Engineering** , including data pipelines, ETL/ELT frameworks, real-time processing, and cloud-native data infrastructure.
+ Familiarity with **Advanced Analytics** tools and techniques—statistical modeling, forecasting, optimization, and visualization frameworks.
+ Practical experience in **Machine Learning** , **ML Ops** , and productionizing models at scale.
+ Hands-on exposure to **Generative AI** (e.g., LLMs, copilots, summarization) and **Agentic AI** (e.g., autonomous task agents, AI planning loops).
+ Exceptional leadership in driving **engineering and operational excellence** at scale.
+ Experience with modern platforms and tools—Kafka, Spark, Airflow, Kubernetes, GCP/Azure, microservices architecture.
+ Proven ability to lead global teams, hire and develop technical talent, and foster a high-performance engineering culture.
+ Outstanding communication and influence skills, with strong executive presence and alignment to business outcomes.
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with **15+ years of experience** , including **5+ years in engineering leadership** roles.

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$260,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

**Minimum Qualifications...**

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Option 2: 8 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
3 years' supervisory experience.
