Director, Product Management
Job Description SummaryThe Director of Product Management for the Ethos Design System (EDS) is a strategic leadership role responsible for the operational architecture and business impact of the platform. This leader will bridge the gap between Engineering, UX Design, and Internal Customers, transforming the program from a support function into a strategic platform leader.

EDS is the critical path for GE HealthCare software products. As the Director, you ensure that the platform scales reliably to support a growing portfolio from 15 products in 2025 to 35+ in 2026 and over 100 by 2028. You will mitigate enterprise risk by ensuring EDS deliverables align perfectly with product release milestones, as no product can ship without EDS.

Reporting to the Sr. Director of User Experience / EDS & Creative Director – Software, you will orchestrate the program delivery of a 40+ person cross-functional organization by managing three direct reports (Product Manager, Product Owner, and Scrum Master) and operational contractors. Your mandate is to drive the Tri-Track delivery strategy by ensuring Product, UX, and Engineering operate as a unified force while owning the definition and delivery of the platform’s financial and operational goals.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Platform Intelligence, Strategic Operations, and Risk Management

Operational Oversight of a Large Organization: Drive the end-to-end operational strategy for a large cross-functional team. You are responsible for the seamless integration of the team to ensure these functions operate as a unified delivery unit.

Tiered Support and White Glove Service: Architect a hybrid support ecosystem. Maintain a bespoke, \"White Glove\" engagement model (face-to-face, high-touch) for high-revenue priority programs critical to GEHC's success, while transitioning the broader portfolio to a scalable, self-service framework.

Champion the \"Hive\" Operational Ecosystem: Oversee the strategy and optimization of \"Hive,\" the platform’s central data-driven hub. Leverage this ecosystem to unify ticketing, measure component consumption and throughput, track adopting team milestones, and facilitate community forums.

Lead Strategic Retrospectives: Facilitate quarterly \"Look Back / Look Forward\" reviews (QBRs) with leadership and stakeholders. Identify macro-level bottlenecks (e.g., contribution models, handoff friction) and drive organizational change to resolve them.

Continuous Feedback and Process Evolution: Complement strategic retrospectives with real-time operational improvement. Utilize Hive to gather continuous customer sentiment and identify immediate process friction to sharpen the internal delivery process.

Enterprise Dependency Management: Acting as the guardian of the Critical Path, you will map and manage dependencies between EDS releases and downstream product launches. Proactively identify risks that could jeopardize NPI timelines and execute mitigation plans.

2. KPI Ownership: Definition, Tracking, and Mitigation

Yearly KPI Definition with Leadership: Partner directly with Senior Leadership and Experience Design Operations to define and align on yearly KPI targets. You are responsible for ensuring these metrics reflect the evolving strategic priorities of the enterprise and the platform.

End-to-End Metric Ownership: Serve as the primary owner of the platform’s success metrics. You will ensure that the definition of \"success\" is clearly understood across the organization and that all stakeholders are aligned on how the platform delivers value.

Expanded Value Framework: Move beyond standard cost savings to define the broader business impact of the platform. You are responsible for finding opportunities to demonstrate value beyond Intrinsic Cost Productivity (ICP), defining and tracking metrics such as product revenue growth, impact to Earnings Per Share (EPS), delivery velocity, and platform margin.

Rigorous Monitoring and Tracking: Establish the systems and cadence for tracking platform performance. You will lead the reporting process for Monthly Operating Reviews (MOR), providing leadership with transparent, data-driven insights into adoption, reliability, and financial impact.

Proactive Risk Mitigation: Actively monitor performance trends to identify potential deviations from targets. You are responsible for developing and executing mitigation plans to resolve delivery or adoption bottlenecks, ensuring the program remains on track to meet its annual commitments.

3. Lifecycle Strategy and Dependency Management

Version and Deprecation Strategy: Own the program strategy for platform lifecycles. You will define the roadmap for deprecating legacy components and lead the \"Migration Campaigns\" to ensure 100+ adopting products remain on modern, secure, and compliant versions of the system.

Enterprise Dependency Management: Acting as the guardian of the Critical Path, you will map and manage dependencies between EDS releases and downstream product launches. Proactively identify risks that could jeopardize product release timelines and execute mitigation plans.

Capacity and Demand Planning: Implement rigorous demand management processes to balance fixed team capacity (40+ people) against the exponential growth of the adopting portfolio. Use data to justify resource allocation across UX, Dev, and QA.

4. Leadership and Communication

Manage and Mentor: Lead and empower your direct reports (PM, PO, SM) to own tactical execution while you focus on the strategic health and long-term scaling of the platform.

Stakeholder Evangelism: Act as the primary advocate for the platform across GE HealthCare. Communicate the value of the platform not just as a library, but as a financial and velocity multiplier for the company.

Resource and Vendor Management: Manage budget, resource allocation, and DesignOps contractors to ensure the program has the necessary operational support structures (such as documentation and scheduling) to run efficiently.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Design, or related field.

Experience: 10+ years in Technical Program Management, Platform Operations, or Design Operations, with specific experience leading Design Systems, Platform teams, or Developer Tools.

Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder.
