The team; the role:
At WMC, the Internal Consulting & Special Projects (IC&SP) team in Business Operations leads transformational initiatives to enable optimization and efficient business growth, incubates and operationalizes strategic initiatives to test new business opportunities, and enables international ads growth via a dedicated center of excellence (COE). It focuses on leading strategic initiatives to solve some of WMC’s most complex business challenges and help shape our growth trajectory.
We are seeking an experienced and driven Director, Internal Consulting & Special Projects – WMC BizOps to be a key contributor on the team.
As a Director, you will own workstreams like those in management consulting, identifying and enabling transformation change across the business. You will exhibit a consultative, informed and influential approach to drive cross-functional collaboration and partnerships with leaders. Present to and influence functional leaders and stakeholders. Direct planning, management and delivery of special projects supporting business priorities, objectives and key results, ensuring progress and successful delivery against end-to-end tactical plans and timelines while driving cross-functional collaboration. Support the team in project management, setting targets and activating communications plans to ensure executive and stakeholder visibility. Prepare recommendations and contingency plans as headwinds arise, demonstrating critical thinking, influence and agility to pivot when necessary. Proactively surface opportunities with recommendations for business support to ensure optimal processes, operational standards, structures and ways of working to meet business needs. Evaluate the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs and initiatives, consulting with business partners and stakeholders, soliciting, evaluating and applying inputs to drive solutions. Direct the implementation of related business solutions. Develop and implement strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by recruiting, onboarding, engaging and developing talent. Support mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning. Cultivate relationships across WMC and Walmart to foster collaboration, establish best practices, and set shared goals and information-sharing platforms that foster partnerships and drive joint accountability against objectives. Collaborate with functional leaders and stakeholders to generate and implement solutions, leveraging subject-matter expertise. Act as a trusted advisor to business partners, influencing to lead or act as needed to move initiatives forward. Apply critical thinking to lead problem-solving efforts for complex and ambiguous problems, question assumptions, identifying potential consequences and risks. Activate and participate in feedback loops between data intake and insights, continually working to improve collection and accuracy to leverage it for transformation initiatives. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations or related field and 6+ years of experience in management consulting, business development, operations or related area OR 8+ years of experience in management consulting, business development, operations or related area. Strongly preferred: Master’s degree in business administration. 8+ years of experience in top-tier strategy consulting, corporate strategy at a large company, private equity investing or portfolio operations, or investment banking. As a bonus, previous experience applying this expertise at a digital media organization. Problem solving & critical thinking: Strong analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex business drivers. Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, including SQL, Excel, and BI platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
