This role is a key leadership position within Global Indirect Procurement, responsible for the end-to-end strategy, performance, and risk management of the Logistics, MRO, and Packaging categories. The Director will lead a team, and manage approximately $180M in global spend, and ensure a cost-effective, resilient, and timely flow of services across our global operations (Americas, Europe, China and Malaysia). The role is critical to achieving our objectives for cost efficiency, supply chain reliability, sustainability, and operational excellence.
General Responsibilities
• Plan and implement the overall supply chain strategy
• Oversee overall supply chain activities to maximize the efficiency, reliability, and timeliness of the organization's supply chain
• Seek to improve all aspects of the supply chain department by reviewing current methodology and processes and implementing solutions
• Maintain a friendly and professional relationship with vendors while promoting company initiatives and values
• Research and seek out the most cost-efficient shipment procedures and methods
• Determine key supply chain KPIs
• Plan and implement supply chain optimization projects
• Direct all supply chain activities to ensure a cost-effective flow of merchandise from suppliers to customers
• Ensure supply chain strategies are integrated with other parts of the business
• Oversee ongoing relationships with major suppliers, vendors, or sub-contractors to minimize costs and ensure satisfactory standards of service
• Direct and develop staff to ensure resources are used effectively and work schedules and targets are met
Experience / Qualifications
• A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Ability to lead, coach, and develop team members
• Holds self and others accountable to achieving goals and standards
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
• Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
• Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
• Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
• Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
Global Category Strategy & Optimization:Plan and implement the overall supply chain strategy across Logistics, MRO, and Packaging to support business growth, service, and margin objectives.Oversee end-to-end supply chain activities to maximize efficiency, reliability, and timeliness, ensuring an uninterrupted, cost-effective flow from suppliers to plants/customers.Continuously improve methodologies and processes, review current practices, diagnose constraints, and implement solutions (e.g., network design, mode optimization, inventory policies, packaging standardization, supplier consolidation).Maintain professional, values-driven relationships with vendors and partners while promoting company initiatives (e.g., sustainability, safety, DEI, code of conduct).Research and adopt cost-efficient shipment procedures and methods, including modal mix, multi-stop optimization, load consolidation, and strategic use of 3PLs/carriers.Determine, monitor, and report key supply chain KPIs (e.g., cost-to-serve, OTIF, freight cost per mile, per unit, inventory turns, supplier OTTR, packaging defect rate, MRO availability).Plan and implement supply chain optimization projects (e.g., freight bid cycles, auctions, packaging redesigns, vendor-managed inventory, MRO storeroom optimization, digital tracking/visibility).Ensure supply chain strategies are integrated with the broader business, partnering with Operations, Finance, Engineering, and Commercial to align plans and make trade-offs explicit.Oversee ongoing relationships with major suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to minimize total cost and risk while ensuring service and quality standards are met or exceeded.
Stakeholder Management & Leadership:Act as the primary procurement business partner for the VP of Operations and regional operations, logistics leadership.Direct and develop staff, assign resources effectively, set work plans and targets, and coach teams for technical excellence and leadership growth.Lead, mentor, and develop the Global Procurement team members dedicated to these categories.Present category strategies, performance metrics, and risk assessments to senior and executive leadership.Key Stakeholders: VP of Operations, Regional Operations Leadership, Plant Managers, Finance Business Partners, R&D and Engineering.
Performance & Supplier Management:Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and a supplier performance management (SPM) program for the category.Drive continuous improvement in cost, service, quality, and sustainability.Mitigate supply chain risk through robust supplier relationship management and contingency planning.
Spend ManagementResponsible for the strategic management and financial performance of a global category spend of ~$180M in total ~$100M for logistics, ~$60M for MRO and ~$20M for packaging.Accountable for delivering annual cost savings targets as defined in the annual operating plan.Direct experience in the packaging category is preferred.
Preferred: Master’s degree or MBA.Professional certification (e.g., CPSM, CSCP, MCIPS).
