About This Opportunity

 

The Director, Enterprise Risk, will lead the development and implementation of the organization’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program.  Key responsibilities include collaborating with current risk owners across the organization; leading the development of a common framework for risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring; and development of a reporting framework for prioritization and reporting on risks to key stakeholders.

The Director will also be responsible for management of the organization’s insurance portfolio, as well as the business continuity plan and specific financial compliance policies and processes, including procurement.   

 

 

Position Specifics

 

In this role you will:

 

Build and Lead the Enterprise Risk Management Function

 

Collaborate with risk owners across the organizations to understand current processes in place to identify and manage riskDesign and build the organization’s ERM framework, policies, and tools in alignment with best practices and stakeholder expectations.Develop a multi-year ERM roadmap and implementation plan, which includes establishing a  risk taxonomy, risk appetite statements, and risk tolerance thresholds.Facilitate risk discussions with leadership and operational teams to ensure consistent evaluation and transparency.Develop and prepare risk reports, dashboards, and heat maps Support the Operational Leadership Team and Senior Volunteers in understanding priority risks and mitigation strategies.Recommend improvements to organizational controls, policies, and oversight mechanisms.

 

 

Business Continuity, Insurance Management and Compliance

 

Lead the collaborative efforts to develop, document, implement and test business continuity plans to minimize downtime, ensure resiliency and speedy recovery.Oversee the organization’s insurance portfolio with responsibility for coordination with the organization’s broker to ensure the organization maintains appropriate and sufficient insurance coverage. Manage the insurance renewal process and ongoing provision of information to the insurance broker to ensure compliance.        Communicate the insurance coverage to key stakeholders and provide appropriate communication to volunteer members.Develop and update as required financial compliance policies and processes, including procurement.  Develop the rollout plan for any new policies to the organization with appropriate change management plans and coaching.        

 

Develop and lead a team

 

Develop a human resources plan to achieve the responsibilities of the enterprise risk management function.Lead, motivate and develop a cohesive, highly effective team

 

 

General

 

Adheres to all relevant policies, procedures, and practices.Provide general, ongoing support to members/volunteers, responding to/directing inquiries and consulting with the appropriate groups and individuals to support the mission and vision of GGC.Apply organizational policies regarding diversity, inclusivity and equity to content, member communication and customer service.Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

 

Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Risk Management, Public Administration, or a related field.A relevant professional designation: CPA, CIA, CRM, CRMP, or equivalent.7–10+ years of progressive experience in enterprise risk, internal audit, compliance, or related fields.Experience building or significantly enhancing an ERM program is highly preferred.Understanding of the Canadian not-for-profit sector, including governance frameworks and regulatory requirements.Experience engaging with senior leadership teams and BoardsStrong knowledge of ERM principles, including COSO and ISO ERM frameworks and methodologiesExperience in policy development, implementation, and monitoringExperience in project and program managementExcellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally across departments with staff and volunteer leadersAbility to translate complex risk information into actionable insights.Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills.Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, and discretion.Commitment to continuous improvement and learning.Demonstrated ability to build, mentor, coach, and inspire your team.Collaborative team player with experience working.

 

 

Hiring Range: $103,400 to $122,000Annually
