Director of Owned Media – Sam’s Club
Sam’s Club is seeking a dynamic and innovative Director of Owned Media to lead the evolution of our owned media ecosystem. This leader will drive strategy, execution, and optimization across channels including Email, Push, SMS, Message Center, ICDS (In-Club Digital Signage), Direct Mail, Radio, and Gas Screens—ensuring these channels deliver personalized, connected, and measurable member experiences at scale.
The ideal candidate will bring deep retail marketing expertise, advanced knowledge of martech platforms, and a proven track record of leveraging data science, analytics, and technology partnerships to enhance the member journey. This role requires both strategic vision and hands-on operational excellence to deliver seamless, impactful, and personalized experiences across every touchpoint.
Key Responsibilities
Channel Leadership: Oversee execution and optimization across all owned media channels (email, SMS, push, message center, ICDS, direct mail, in club radio, gas screens), ensuring cross-channel orchestration and consistency.Personalization & Member Journey: Partner with personalization and strategy partners, data science, analytics, and product teams to design and deliver member-centric journeys, leveraging segmentation, predictive modeling, and AI/ML-driven personalization to meet members’ needs at every stage.MarTech Strategy & Enablement: Collaborate with technology and platform partners to enhance capabilities, integrate martech solutions, automate workflows, and unlock next-generation personalization.Campaign Excellence: Partner with strategy, creative, and operations teams to deliver campaigns that are timely, relevant, and performance-driven, with clear linkage to sales, traffic, and engagement outcomes.Optimization & Insights: Establish robust measurement, experimentation, and reporting frameworks to maximize ROI, improve targeting, and drive continuous improvement across channels.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strong partnerships with data science, analytics, product, and marketing leadership to ensure alignment of owned media strategies with enterprise priorities.Innovation & Foresight: Stay ahead of evolving retail, consumer, and martech trends to proactively identify opportunities for new tools, tactics, and approaches that enhance the member experience.Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of channel managers and operators, fostering a culture of collaboration, curiosity, and innovation at the intersection of marketing and technology.Qualifications
10+ years of experience in retail marketing or digital media, with expertise in martech platforms, personalization, and data-driven marketing.Proven ability to bridge marketing and technology, with strong cross-functional collaboration skills, particularly with data science and analytics teams.Deep understanding of owned media channel management, campaign operations, and measurement best practices.Strong leadership experience managing high-performing teams in fast-paced, innovation-driven environments.At Sam's Club, we offer competitive pay as well as performance-based bonus awards and other great benefits for a happier mind, body, and wallet!

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
