Job Description

What is the opportunity?   

The Director acts as a strategic advisor to the CFO and key CFO Group and enterprise partners on a range of internal and external communications, including articulating RBC’s financial and strategic story through its quarterly earnings and the development of the annual report front section. The successful candidate also leads a team of two in driving CFO Group employee engagement through creative and compelling content and events that tell the story of how this function is accelerating RBC’s bold ambitions and that shine a light on its talented colleagues across the globe

What will you do?  

Advise the CFO and other CFO Group leaders on strategic internal and external communications opportunities.Meaningfully contribute to telling RBC’s financial and strategic story through the bank’s quarterly earnings and the front section of the annual reportLead the delivery of compelling and creative internal content and employee events that highlight how the CFO Group’s colleagues globally create value across RBC.Identify and act on opportunities to elevate the CFO’s voice through internal and external channels, including LinkedIn.Manage media relations associated with the function.Provide direct reports with coaching, feedback and development opportunities that set them up for success and enable their professional growth.Partner fluidly with Corporate Communications colleagues and other partners in amplifying key enterprise themes and initiatives.Contribute to the success of RBC Brand, Marketing, Communications & Citizenship’s overarching goals, including instilling a strong OneRBC culture.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have  

10+ years of strategic communications, public relations experience or investor communications experience at a financial institution, large company or professional services firm.Well-honed critical thinking skills and sound judgement with an ability to deliver high-impact communications advice and insights to executives and other partners.Strong collaboration and relationship management capabilities that build trust and accelerate outcomes.  Excellent writing skills and an ability to distill complex information into plain language that resonates with a range of audiences.People management experience with a deep commitment to team culture, enablement, coaching and development.A strong grasp of current events, and business and macroeconomic news, with an understanding of how the external environment impacts the financial services industry.

Nice-to-have 

Undergraduate degree/post-graduate certificate or equivalent in communications, public relations, journalism, public affairs, English or related field.Canadian Securities Course or experience with delivering shareholder or other stakeholder reports.Knowledge of AI and an interest in harnessing it to enhance how communicators work and the value they deliver.
