We are headquartered in Denver, Colorado, with offices across the U.S., Canada, and India. About the Role We are looking for a Cloud Financial Operations (FinOps) Director who thrives at the intersection of cloud technology, finance, and business strategy. This role is a hands-on role, with potential to grow into a people and project management role - your initial impact will come through analysis, influence, and execution. You will be the key driver of how we understand, optimize, and act on our AWS cloud spend. You’ll partner with engineering, finance, product, and executive teams to make cloud economics a strategic advantage for the organization. What You’ll Do Analyze and Optimize AWS Spend Own detailed cost and usage analysis, including Reserved Instance and Savings Plan utilization, anomaly detection, and spend forecasting. Identify trends and opportunities for cost reduction without compromising performance or business outcomes. Drive Savings Execution Move beyond analysis—build action plans, secure alignment, and follow through on execution of savings initiatives. Partner with engineering teams to right-size workloads, modernize architectures, and shift spend patterns. Build Organizational Awareness Create clear reporting, dashboards, and narratives that explain cloud economics, risks, opportunities and decision points to stakeholders from engineers to executives. Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, ensuring decisions around cloud growth are data driven. Deliver monthly FinOps reports to stakeholders, highlighting variances, trends, and savings opportunities.  Enable a FinOps Culture Champion cost accountability across teams by embedding FinOps practices into engineering roadmaps and financial planning cycles. Educate teams on AWS billing constructs, optimization levers, and trade-offs. What We’re Looking For Proven Expertise: 7+ years in cloud financial operations, cloud cost optimization, or related disciplines, with deep AWS knowledge; 12+ years of experience in IT or Finance. Builder Mindset: Demonstrated ability to create a high functioning FinOps practice from the ground up. Analytical Rigor: Advanced ability to mine large datasets (using tools like CloudHealth, CloudAbility, AWS Cost Explorer, Athena/QuickSight, Tableau, or similar tools) and surface meaningful insights. Execution Mindset: Not just identifying opportunities, but successfully executing them in collaboration with engineering, operations, and finance. Stakeholder Savvy: Comfortable working with developers, finance analysts, and C-level leaders alike—able to tailor the message to the audience. Business Acumen: Significant experience with cloud cost forecasting, chargeback/showback models, and cloud unit economics. Good understanding of how cloud economics tie to margins, product pricing, and long-term strategy. People and Project leadership: Have a proven track record of managing people, building relationships and leading complex FinOps initiatives. Preferred Qualifications: FinOps Certified Professional or relevant AWS certifications preferred; MBA or advanced degree in Finance/Technology is a plus.
