What You’ll Be Doing

You will be joining the Enterprise Risk Technology team within CIBC. As the Director or Application Development, you will be focusing on directing, managing and delivering application development projects; And facilitating smooth workflow of the department to ensure high standards and quality of technical work. You’ll work closely with your team in the on-time, on-budget delivery of projects and services, while ensuring adherence to enterprise standards, through coding best practices and DevOps automation. How You’ll Succeed

Strategic Development & Execution: Direct, manage and deliver all aspects of application development for large, complex, mission critical application projects. Identify the drivers, strategies and needs of the technology solution and delivery strategy to support those projects. Facilitate smooth workflow of the department;  ensure high standards and quality of technical work.  Direct reviews of requirements, tools and technologies for improving quality and reducing costs.  Establish, monitor and adhere to budget for your respective area.Relationship Management: Manage relationships with delivery areas and business partners; interface and maintain communications, monitor business and technology developments and provide on-time response and support. Proactively manage offshore vendor relationships for project resources to ensure effective utilization.Strong Leadership: Be a bold and authentic leader who is passionate about developing and coaching to bring out the best in people.  Direct, motivate, develop and manage performance of the management team and key staff.Technology Project Delivery:  Define and direct technology delivery priorities, ensuring that the solutions being employed are in line with the larger enterprise vision and position our technology platform for solid growth in the future, while at the same time, finding the right balance between project delivery timelines and long-term sustainability.

Who You Are

You can demonstrate experience in: Forming, building and managing effective teams in a matrix fulltime/onshore/offshore model. You have experience managing an operating budget of approximately $1-2 million, and a capital budget of approximately $3-5million. You have 8+ years experience managing complex IT projects, preferably in Enterprise Risk Management. You have previous hands on application development experience, as well as managing teams and deliveries using both waterfall and agile methodologies. You have strong knowledge of: Data intensive applications such as traditional Data Warehousing, ETL/ELT data transformation patterns and tools, Big Data applications such as Edge, as well as modern Azure cloud first data processing and analytics patterns and tools. Business domain knowledge of Enterprise Risk, regulatory and economic capital calculation, and OFSI regulatory requirements such as BASEL, IFRS9, and BCBS-239.It’s an advantage if you have a bachelors degree or equivalent in related field. Have the ability to make judgments regarding the ongoing viability of development phase or strategy based on ability to deliver upon agreed functionality within approved budget and schedule. It is an advantage if you have experience within an Agile environment.
