**Job Title: Directional Drill Operator** **Job Description** We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Directional Drill Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment to install underground utilities such as fiber optic cables, water lines, and electrical conduits. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety. **Prevailing Wage Opportunities!!** **Responsibilities** + Operate directional drilling equipment and locate systems for the installation of underground utilities. + Read and interpret utility maps, blueprints, and job specifications. + Monitor bore path and adjust drilling parameters to ensure accuracy and avoid existing utilities. + Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and routine maintenance on drilling equipment. + Communicate with crew members and supervisors to ensure safe and efficient operations. + Maintain accurate records of drilling activities and job progress. + Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies. **Essential Skills** + Experience of 4+ years as a directional drill operator. + Proficiency in MWD/LWD (Measurement/Logging While Drilling). + Experience with Rotary Steerable Systems operation. + Knowledge of well planning software (e.g., WellPlan, Compass, DrillScan). + Expertise in torque and drag analysis and hydraulics optimization. + GeoSteering skills (adjusting drill path based on geological data). + Strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills. + Physical stamina and endurance. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + OSHA 10 certification. + Experience in site construction and utility construction. + Familiarity with underground conduit and utilities. + Proficiency with hand and power tools. **Why Work Here?** Our organization is very stable and has a large pipeline of work lined up. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday work and overtime expected. Candidates will start their day at the shop at 6:15 am and wrap up around 4:00 pm, although overtime can vary from 2 to 20 hours per week depending on the project schedule. Crew sizes can range from 1 to 10 members, reporting to a foreman or project superintendent. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract position based out of Cohoes, New York. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
