We are looking for a Digital Technology Lead Clinical Data Layer who is strategic, solutions‑oriented, and collaborative to join us in our Patient Evidence and Digital Technology team, based in our Brussels office in Belgium.
About the role
You will lead the global vision, design, implementation and daily operation of the clinical data layer that stores, manages, and provisions clinical and associated data for all therapeutic areas. You will ensure the data layer is modern, reliable, automation‑ready, and fully compliant with regulatory expectations. This includes defining a future‑proof architecture, managing platform lifecycles, and enabling efficient, secure access to high‑quality data for analytics, statistics, documents, and intelligent solutions. Your work will enable the entire development pipeline by providing stable, trusted data engineering, management, and processing capabilities. You will also introduce improved ways of working, support adoption, and deliver value through frequent, transparent releases.
Who you’ll work with
You will be working in a team that partners closely with clinical data managers, statisticians, analysts, data governance leaders, and quality teams across the organisation. You will collaborate with process owners to define metadata models, ownership structures, and strong data practices. You will also engage with engineers, managed service providers, and external technology partners to support platform delivery and operations. Your role requires effective communication, relationship building, and influence across diverse groups in a highly regulated environment.
What you’ll do
Translate the clinical data platform strategy into a clear roadmap with quarterly value releases and align all key stakeholdersOwn the architecture and technology components of the data platform; evaluate new solutions and ensure alignment with enterprise standardsBuild a strong network to shape requirements and support operational decisions through clear, thoughtful communicationLead project delivery, planning, resourcing, and day‑to‑day management of initiatives across the clinical data platformDefine and optimize operational processes for data engineering, management, and provisioning through internal teams and external providersDrive adoption of new technologies; support change management and define expectations for data and process ownersEnsure readiness for internal and external audits; collaborate with auditors and demonstrate complianceManage vendor relationships and build effective, long‑term partnerships

Master’s degree in computer science, data engineering, information systems, or a related field; equivalent experience consideredStrong technical expertise in data management, data operations, or data warehousing in complex environmentsExperience designing and operating large‑scale technology solutions and modern data architecturesUnderstanding of clinical development and regulated environments; strong knowledge of data integrity and system validationProven project and program management skills including budgeting, planning, and stakeholder alignmentStrong communication skills; able to engage both technical and non‑technical audiencesComfortable navigating ambiguity; able to switch between strategy and detail to deliver actionable solutionsQuality‑driven mindset with a consistent focus on compliance and reliability
