**Job Description** **This recruitment offers a $2,000 Signing Bonus to eligible new employees joining UW Medicine** **UW Medicine-Montlake- Food and Nutrition** has an outstanding opportunity for a **Dietary Unit Aide.** **WORK SCHEDULE** + 50% FTE, Evenings + Wednesday - Sunday + 4:30pm-8:30pm **DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION** The Nutrition and Food Services department supports UWMC's mission by delivering extraordinary experiences with compassionate evidence-based care, unforgettable customer service, and fresh and nutritious food for patients, families, and the greater community. Our vision is to create a supportive and empowering workplace for all, provide unparalleled experiences for our customers and patients, and improve the quality of life and health of the public. **POSITION HIGHLIGHTS** + Dietary Unit Aide is responsible for delivering patient meals and nourishments. They ensure food is handled safely and patient meal trays are delivered accurately. Actively contributes to team process, maintains cooperative work environment and works to improve quality of service provided to patients. + Guides patients on meal ordering process. The ambassador may also assist patients and/or caregivers in placing meal orders. **PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES** + Receives new diet orders, visits the patient within a half hour. The Ambassador will present menus to the patient or guests, introduce the features of the Room Service Program + Responds to Patient, Nurse and Call Center inquiries. Distribute menus + Delivers nourishments and tube feedings to patients in accordance with patient diet orders + Provides basic nutritional services to patients such as meal and snack delivery + Takes unit nourishment inventory and stock + Act as a liaison between the patient and the department. + Serve in a guest relations role to patients and visitors. + Relay patient food requests/comments to Call Center and Food Service Supervisor/Program Support Supervisor + Deliver or relay messages from nursing and other health care staff to the department + Share any issues to the appropriate staff. Turn in phone and i-Pad. **REQUIREMENTS** + Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment + One year of experience as a Dietary Unit Aide in a health care facility or equivalent + High school graduation or GED + One year of additional experience may substitute for the educational requirement. + Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. **ABOUT UW MEDICAL CENTER-MONTLAKE** UW Medical Center is an acute care academic medical center located in Seattle with two campuses: Montlake and Northwest.
