Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Diesel Technician with expertise in pneumatic brake systems, air ride and spring ride diagnosis and repair procedures, and a profound understanding of trailer physics to ensure proper load support and repair. Candidates should have experience in electrical wiring systems and ABS braking repairs, along with the mechanical ability to maintain wheel end and brake system repairs. The role involves performing heavy-duty truck/trailer repair and maintenance, operating power and hand tools, and utilizing testing equipment including computers and other electronic diagnostic tools to identify failed components.
Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair pneumatic brake systems.Perform air ride and spring ride diagnosis and repair procedures.Understand trailer physics to ensure proper load support and repair.Repair electrical wiring systems and ABS braking systems.Maintain wheel end and brake systems.Conduct heavy-duty truck/trailer repair and maintenance.Operate power and hand tools and other equipment used in servicing vehicles.Move freely throughout the service area, engaging in physical effort such as climbing in/out of trailers, bending, and manipulating tools/equipment.Use computers and electronic diagnostic equipment to determine failed components.Essential Skills
Proficiency in diesel troubleshooting and repair.Welding skills.Experience with fleet management.Ability to conduct diagnosis and repair of diesel engines/trucks.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in welding repairs, bodywork, and suspension repair.Experience in working with both heavy trucks and municipality vehicles (buses).Experience with diesel engines/trucks.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
This position offers a contract-to-hire opportunity, with either a 6-month or 9-month contract depending on the hiring manager's decision. Work hours at the Painesville location are Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility to start as early as 7:00 AM if necessary. At the Girard location, work hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with no overtime. Both locations are smaller shops with six technicians each, fostering a 'family feel' environment. The Painesville location may require additional hours depending on weather or bus breakdowns. Both locations prioritize a collaborative and supportive atmosphere.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
