Diesel Mechanic
Job Title: Diesel MechanicJob Description

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our construction infrastructure and design team in Houston. This role involves building and repairing diesel engines, particularly for FORD trucks ranging from F150 to F450, as well as assembling and repairing equipment for Hydro Excavation. The position requires expertise in hydraulic repairs and maintenance of heavy construction equipment. The ideal candidate will diagnose and repair issues in engines, transmissions, electrical steering, suspensions, brakes, climate control, computers, and electronics.

ResponsibilitiesPerform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy.Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform necessary repairs.Communicate with the floor lead or supervisor to obtain needed parts.Examine assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.Document all work performed and recommended on repair orders.Conduct road tests on vehicles when required.Maintain knowledge in all aspects of automotive repair and maintenance.Learn new technology and procedures.Operate electronic diagnostic equipment.Maintain a clean and organized shop area.Work comfortably and knowledgeably on class 3-8 vehicles, air brake systems, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
Essential SkillsProficiency in diesel troubleshooting and repair.Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose engine, transmission, electrical steering, suspension, brakes, climate, computer, and electronics.Experience with fleet and heavy equipment maintenance.Knowledge of hydraulics and preventive maintenance.Ability to use electronic diagnostic equipment.Problem-solving attitude and fast learning capabilities.Possession of personal tools.
Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience working on Ford trucks and heavy equipment.Experience with hydro excavation equipment, heavy equipment, or mobile fleets.Fabrication experience.Bilingual skills are a nice-to-have but not required (75% of the shop is Spanish-speaking).

Work Environment

The position is in a shop environment that is not climate-controlled. You will work alongside heavy equipment and diesel mechanics who are supportive and willing to train and assist. While you will receive training mainly from the shop manager, you are expected to work independently as needed. The dress code includes steel-toed boots, jeans, and a work shirt. The work schedule is a day shift from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with potential changes to a 7:00 am to 5:00 pm schedule in the future. The team stays busy to accommodate Houston traffic.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $79040.00/yr.
