Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a DevOps Software Engineer / Principal DevOps Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our software organization. The location for this opportunity is Melbourne, Florida and will be primarily based within our office spaces to support the program and business needs. Operating on our 9/80 schedule, meaning you will get every other Friday off. The position has NO remote or Hybrid work available .

The Aeronautics Systems sector Research & Advanced Design (R&AD) is looking to grow Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) in support of designing and implementing technologies critical to the USAF Open Architecture initiatives. Our work influences the investment decisions of our senior leadership and customer program offices as well as impacting the Air Force enterprise of acquisition programs.

Duties include deploying product updates, setting up software factory, virtual machines, containers, and orchestration. This role will have a large impact on team productivity and as such requires an understanding of the software development lifecycle and various automation tools for developing digital pipelines (CI/CD pipelines). The Principal DevOps Engineer will support integration of software for use across multi-domain/multi-platform scenarios using software engineering best practices and standards and participate in the full life cycle of software development, to include requirements development, modeling and design, application development, unit testing, integration, formal system testing within a cluster environment, release, installation, and maintenance of clusters.

**This position may be filled by either DevOps Software Engineer or a  Principal DevOps Software Engineer level based on the qualifications listed. **

Essential Functions:  

Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability

Maintain and troubleshoot networking components, including VLANs, firewalls, switches, and routers

Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software, servers, and hardware.

Deploy, manage, and support virtualized environments (e.g. VMware, Hyper-V, or other hypervisors)

Implement and manage core infrastructure services (e.g., DNS, DHCP, NAS, and Active Directory)

Set up an overall Cloud-native Software Factory

Manage and improve container orchestration and deployment strategies

Support programs with integration and deployment automation in a cloud enabled environment

Basic Qualifications: 

Software Engineer:  Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 2 Years experience; OR a master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 0 Years experience.

Principal Software Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 5 Years experience; OR a master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 3 Years experience; OR a PhD in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 1 Years experience.

 Experience developing software with C/C++/Python/Java

Proficient with containers and Kubernetes

Proficient with Automation tools such as Ansible, and/or Terraform

Experience scripting in YAML, PowerShell, BASH, JSON, etc.

Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Experience with UCI Schema and CAL development

Strong working knowledge of  Windows and Linux environments

Experience in creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab, or equivalent)

Proficient with networking concepts

Active Top Secret clearance

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science

Experience integrating and debugging software on hardware

Experience working within an Agile environment

Familiarity with software development tools such as Git, CMake, and Eclipse, Visual Studio Code

Proficiency working in Linux and commands

Able to work independently and identify solutions to complex problems

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
