Job overview and responsibilities

United Airlines’ Customer Technology Platform department partners with business and technology leaders across the company to create high performing services and real time messaging applications across key airline functionalities such as Booking, Check-in, Payment, Reservation systems and Operational Systems to help support the commercial and digital Channels of United.
As a software developer in the Data Enablement team, you will be responsible for the development of mission critical applications, while working with a team of developers. This individual will build high performing, real-time middleware solutions in the extremely critical domains of Baggage, Flight Operations, Reservation Management and Check-in. You will play a large role in building data caches and real time messaging applications, used by operational and commercial systems across the company. Additionally, as a developer, you will build these applications with a focus on delivering cloud based solutions. The individual will use leading edge technologies and enterprise grade integration software on a daily basis.

Participate in full development life cycle including requirements analysis and designServe as technical expert on development projectsWrite technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirementsSupport, maintain, and document software functionalityIdentify and evaluate new technologies for implementationAnalyze code to find causes of errors and revise programs as neededParticipate in software design meetings and analyze user needs to determine technical requirements Consult with end user to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needsRecognized as expert in field, knowledgeable of emerging trends and industry practicesConducts the most complex and vital work critical to the organizationWorks without supervision with complete latitude for independent judgment

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems and/or equivalent work experience6+ years of experience in design, development, documenting, testing, and debugging of new and existing software systems and/or applications for market sale or large-scale proprietary software for internal useExcellent knowledge of object-oriented systems design and application development Strong knowledge of .Net web services, SQL and Design PatternsExperience in Messaging, EAI, CEP and In-memory Distributed Caching platforms (like CouchBase)Proficiency in Software Development best practices such as - Continuous Integration, Unit/Integration testing, Code reviewsAbout 4 weeks of travel to US in a year may be neededMust be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorshipMust be fluent in English (written and spoken)Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
