Job Purpose
We are looking for a Developer II, Identity and Access Management to design, build, and modernize mission‑critical applications on IBM z/OS. You’ll own end‑to‑end delivery across batch and online systems, contributing to high‑availability services that support core business operations. This role blends hands‑on development with systems analysis, performance tuning, secure coding practices, and DevOps automation in mainframe environments.
Responsibilities
Design & DevelopmentDevelop and maintain COBOL, PL/I, and Assembler programs for batch (JCL) and online (CICS/IMS) workloads.Build and optimize data access using DB2, IMS-DB, VSAM, and MQ.Create reusable utilities and automation using REXX, CLIST, and shell scripting where applicable.Systems & PerformanceAnalyze SMF/DB2/CICS metrics and tune programs, DB2 SQL, VSAM structures, and buffer pools to reduce CPU and elapsed time.Improve batch schedules and throughput within defined batch windows; troubleshoot abends (S0C7, S0C4, S806, etc.).Operations & DevOpsAuthor production‑ready JCL, procs, PARMs; integrate with schedulers (e.g., CA 7, Control‑M, Tivoli).Use TSO/ISPF, SDSF, SMP/E, z/OSMF, and modern tooling (Zowe, Git, Jenkins, Rocket or equivalent).Participate in CI/CD pipelines for mainframe code, automated unit/functional testing, and code quality gates.Security & ComplianceImplement secure coding practices; remediate findings (static/dynamic scans).Collaborate with IAM/security teams on RACF/Top Secret/ACF2 resource protections, dataset access, and SMF auditing.Ensure compliance with SOX, PCI, HIPAA, and internal controls; maintain robust change management documentation.Analysis & SupportPartner with business analysts to translate requirements into technical designs; prepare technical specs and ERDs.Provide L3 production support, root cause analysis, and incident follow‑up; implement reliable fixes and post‑mortems.ModernizationContribute to API enablement, data virtualization, and microservices integration (e.g., z/OS Connect, MQ, Kafka bridges).Support code refactoring, re-platforming, and interoperability efforts with distributed/cloud systems
