Detail Planning Engineering Intern
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. + Ensure that all HPSI safety procedures, rules and regulations are communicated, understood, and followed + Assist detail planners in their daily production support activities + Create and/or modify reports + Input data into HPSI’s ERP software SAP and scheduling software Primavera P6 + Reproduce design and production drawings and DCNs + Create and issue work packages to production + Create and maintain MPRs in a spreadsheet for each department + Support the department in miscellaneous technical projects + Temporarily support the shipyard’s other Engineering, Production, Procurement, or Quality Control Departments in various ship production activities + Perform other related duties as required and assigned COMPETENCIES + Production & Project Support: Ability to assist in preparing work packages, tracking production progress, and supporting multiple shipyard departments. + ERP & Scheduling Software: Proficiency or familiarity with SAP and Primavera P6 is preferred. + Technical Documentation: Ability to reproduce, update, and manage design drawings, DCNs, and departmental reports. + Data Management & Reporting: Strong organizational skills for maintaining spreadsheets, MPRs, and progress reports. + Communication & Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with Detail Planners, Production, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams. + Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Attention to detail for reviewing reports, data input, and supporting technical projects. + Safety & Compliance: Awareness of shipyard safety procedures and ability to maintain compliance with HPSI standards. + Adaptability & Learning: Willingness to rotate through departments, learn hands-on production processes, and take on diverse tasks as priorities change. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTY This position has no supervisory responsibilities. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE + Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field. + Coursework or experience in project planning, production management, or data analysis is preferred. + Exposure to ERP systems (SAP) and project scheduling software (Primavera P6) is highly desirable. + Familiarity with technical drawings, design change notices, and production documentation is beneficial. + Strong organizational and multitasking skills; ability to work in a fast-paced shipyard environment. + Previous internship, co-op, or hands-on experience in shipbuilding, manufacturing, or production support is advantageous but not required. WORK ENVIRONMENT Environmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes and smoke. Work may be executed indoors or outdoors and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions. * Hanwha Philly Shipyard is a TOBACCO FREE facility.
