Desktop Support Engineer/Admin
**Location:** Onsite, Back Bay, Boston, MA (Immediate hire) **CONTRACT ROLE** **Department:** Information Technology **Reports To:** IT Manager **Position Overview** Our client located in Boston’s Back Bay seeks a Desktop Support/Admin professional to provide hands-on technical support for end users and play a key role in the clients migration to Windows 11. The ideal candidate will have strong experience supporting primarily PC environments, with additional consideration for candidates who have supported Mac systems. Proficiency with SCCM and CASE tools is required. This is a fully onsite role. **Key Responsibilities** + Serve as the primary onsite contact for user technical support, troubleshooting issues related to desktops, laptops, peripherals, and software for faculty, staff, and students + Lead and support the migration of user devices from Windows 10 to Windows 11, ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations + Utilize SCCM for OS deployments, software distribution, patch management, and endpoint administration + Provide technical support for both PC and Mac users, including imaging, configuration, and troubleshooting of devices + Support and administer CASE (Computer-Aided Software Engineering) tools as required by academic and administrative departments. + Manage user accounts, device enrollment, and asset tracking through Active Directory and other IT management platforms + Document technical procedures, troubleshooting steps, and user guides to support knowledge sharing within the IT team. + Collaborate with IT colleagues to identify, analyze, and resolve recurring technical issues and contribute to process improvements. + Participate in technical projects and initiatives as directed by IT leadership. **Required Qualifications** + 3+ years of experience in desktop support or IT administration, preferably in an academic or enterprise environment + Proven experience with Windows 10/11 migration, including imaging, upgrades, and deployment + Hands-on experience with SCCM for endpoint management, software deployment, and patching + Strong troubleshooting skills with Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, and common desktop applications. + Experience supporting and troubleshooting Mac OS devices; JAMF or similar MDM experience is a plus5 (https://www.velvetjobs.com/resume/desktop-engineer-resume-sample) . + Familiarity with CASE tools and their deployment/support in a college or enterprise setting. + Excellent customer service, communication, and documentation skills. + Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, onsite environment. + Must be able to work onsite in the Back Bay of Boston, Monday through Friday. **Preferred Qualifications** + Experience with Active Directory, Office 365 administration, and IT asset management + Scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, etc.) for automation and process improvement + Relevant certifications (CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate, JAMF, etc.) are a plus. **Compensation** + Competitive salary commensurate with experience. + Comprehensive benefits package available.
