Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Design Tech to develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems operating from 4kV through 138kV. This role focuses on programmatic work associated with overloaded transformers, inspection and maintenance, joint use, and inspection reports. The position requires compliance with safety requirements and quality expectations, as well as engineering design work following site inspections.
Responsibilities
Develop design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems.Comply with safety requirements and design and quality expectations.Travel to sites, perform inspections, and return to the office to execute engineering design work.Perform engineering calculations such as structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, conductor sags and tensions, and voltage drop and flicker calculations.Develop permitting documents for various authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ).Provide engineering support during construction and conduct post-construction reviews.Conduct root cause analysis of outages and apply engineering principles for mitigation.Essential Skills
Expertise in distribution, design, and engineering in utility and power distribution.Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, etc.).Ability to lead teams and complete complex designs.Strong client-facing skills and ability to represent the business effectively.Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification is a plus.Experience in power distribution is desirable.Work Environment
This position offers a dynamic office environment with a cubicle setup in Carmel. Candidates are expected to work in the office four times a week for the first 9-12 months, transitioning to three times a week post-hire. Field visits across Indiana may be required, with mileage reimbursement provided. The culture combines the resources of a large engineering firm with the personal touch of a small office. The dress code is casual, with adjustments for client-facing or field activities. The role follows a Monday through Friday, first-shift schedule.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.04 - $24.04/hr.
