We are seeking a skilled Design Technician to develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems ranging from 4kV to 138kV. This role supports programmatic work including overloaded transformer remediation, inspection and maintenance, joint‑use projects, and inspection report follow‑ups. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, quality, and engineering excellence, performing both field inspections and office-based design work.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop detailed design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems.Ensure all work complies with safety standards, design requirements, and quality expectations.Conduct site visits and inspections, then execute corresponding engineering design in the office.Perform engineering calculations, including:Structural analysis for wood pole loadingGuying calculationsConductor sag and tension analysisVoltage drop and flicker calculationsPrepare permitting documents for authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs).Provide engineering support during construction and conduct post‑construction reviews.Perform root cause analysis for outages and recommend mitigation strategies using sound engineering principles.Essential SkillsStrong expertise in utility distribution design and power engineering.Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field).Proven ability to lead teams and complete complex design projects.Excellent client‑facing and communication skills.Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic work environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsEngineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification preferred.Prior experience in power distribution design is highly desirable.Work EnvironmentThis role is based in our Carmel office, featuring a collaborative, small‑office culture supported by the resources of a large engineering firm.
On-site expectations: Four days per week in-office for the first 9–12 months, transitioning to three days per week afterward.Fieldwork: Occasional travel throughout Indiana for site visits; mileage reimbursement provided.Dress code: Casual, with adjustments as needed for client meetings or field activities.Schedule: Monday–Friday, first shift.Job Type & Location

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.04 - $24.04/hr.
