We are seeking a dedicated Design Release Engineer specializing in wiring to join our team. You will be responsible for designing under and/or upper body wiring harnesses that meet program cost, weight, quality, performance, and timing targets. This role requires a commitment to Robustness Engineering Disciplines and ensuring compliance with requirements and specifications.
ResponsibilitiesDesign wiring harnesses to comply with program targets for cost, weight, quality, and timing.Ensure compliance with Robustness Engineering Disciplines, including quality history, P-Diagram, and FMEA.Apply Six Sigma and 8D methodologies.Lead Technical Design Reviews (TDRs).Release parts in FEDEBOM and WERS throughout the product lifecycle and support Change Control Meetings.Audit and update Bill of Material (BOM) for prototype builds and maintain it post Job 1.Identify validation, durability, and functional tests as per requirements and specifications.Resolve issues in digital and build phases of product development.Analyze and break down Program Direction Letters and Trim Spiders for Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS).Generate proposals to minimize cost and reduce total part count.Develop and maintain build level complexity charts.Perform Harness Complexity Analysis and engineering cost estimates.Define and verify engineering prototype requirements at the part level.Implement parts and sign-off in manufacturing and assembly plants, assisting quality issue resolution.Support prototype and production build events for forward model programs.Participate in quality and manufacturing quality forums as required.Comply with GPDS deliverables for EDS at each milestone.Submit invention disclosures, process improvements, and best practices.Complete training outlined in calendar year objectives.Willingness to travel out of state and into Mexico/Central America.Essential Skills5-10 years of experience in wiring harness design and vehicle launch.Basic 3D CAD knowledge, preferably 3DX.Understanding of feature partitioning and automotive systems.Additional Skills & QualificationsEngineering Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics desired.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.Strong time and project management skills.Experience in wiring harness manufacturing.Work EnvironmentThe role offers a hybrid schedule, requiring 4 days per week on-site.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.00 - $51.00/hr.
