Design Release Engineer - Jr.
Job Title: Design Release Engineer - Junior Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Design Release Engineer to perform engineering activities at both the component and system levels. You will be responsible for executing CAD and CAE updates and developing DVP&R for systems and components. The ideal candidate will manage supplier interactions, create and maintain development work plans, and support engine BOM maintenance. You will also perform WERS releases and manage Engineering Change Requests and Orders. Responsibilities + Perform engineering activities at component and system level. + Follow the Design Change Checklist to understand required DV and PV for each part. + Execute CAD and CAE updates as needed. + Develop DVP&R for systems and components. + Manage new supplier interactions with support from the STA team. + Create and maintain detailed development work plans. + Support and maintain engine BOM. + Perform WERS release and participate in change control. + Move parts across engine platforms to alternative suppliers. + Focus on powertrain systems including base engine, exhaust/after-treatment, turbochargers/air induction, thermal systems, and fuel/ignition/evaporative emissions systems. + Own the engine sub-system design release process using OEM PLM systems. + Approve drawings, BOMs, part numbers, and configuration content. + Manage Engineering Change Requests and Orders. + Evaluate and communicate design change impacts on cost, quality, emissions, and timing. + Lead Validation, APQP, and Launch Support. + Lead engine sub-system APQP activities including DFMEA, PFMEA, and Control Plans. + Support DV/PV testing: durability, thermal, NVH, performance, and emissions. + Coordinate prototype, mule, and pre-production engine builds. + Support PPAP readiness and launch activities. + Ensure Quality, Compliance, and perform Risk Management. Essential Skills + Proficiency with CAD and PLM tools (e.g., CATIA and Teamcenter). + Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or related Engineering field. + 1 to 3+ years of internal combustion engine development experience. + Experience in design release or technical leadership roles. + Strong knowledge of engine systems, materials, and manufacturing processes. + Experience with APQP, DFMEA, PPAP, and product launch support. Work Environment You will work within a dynamic team environment, leveraging CAD and PLM tools such as CATIA and Teamcenter. The role requires interaction with cross-functional teams and suppliers, adhering to program timelines and ensuring quality and compliance throughout the development process. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Dearborn, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $43.00/hr.
