Job Title: Design Engineer

Job Description

The Design Engineer will be responsible for creating detailed 3D models and assembly drawings using SolidWorks. The primary focus will be on the design and development of complete chassis systems, chassis components, chassis cabs, and various mechanical parts. The ideal candidate will possess a strong experience in mechanical design and demonstrate high proficiency in 3D solid modeling. In addition to design work, collaboration with the shop floor is essential to verify fit and function, ensuring accurate translation of designs into physical components.

Responsibilities

Create detailed 3D models and assembly drawings using SolidWorks.Focus on the design and development of chassis systems and components.Collaborate with the shop floor to verify fit and function of designs.Ensure designs are accurately translated into physical components.Meet project deadlines with accurate and timely designs.

Essential Skills

5+ years of experience in mechanical design using SolidWorks 3D.Experience designing fabricated metal components.Experience working on the floor with manufacturing for troubleshooting.Understanding of tolerance standards (ANSI/ASME, GD&T).Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience creating Bill of Materials (BOM).Experience with air and hydraulic schematics.Experience in heavy truck or transportation chassis design.Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) certification is a plus.

Work Environment

The work environment includes working in the engineering building alongside other engineers. The role involves mostly designing at a cubicle with some interaction on the shop floor for verification and troubleshooting. The engineering team consists of 10 engineers, including 8 Design Engineers and 2 Electrical Engineers. Work hours are Monday to Friday, from 7 or 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, with a potential arrangement for four 10-hour days from Monday to Thursday, 6 am to 4 pm. The position offers six holidays, with no PTO.

This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $46.00/hr.
