The Large Power System Division NPI Packaging team is a cross-engine platform engineering group that manages products for multiple platforms and market segments and facilities globally. As a Design Engineer in the BOM-Configuration area in the Large Power Systems Division, you will be tasked with NPI product implementation readiness by participating in NPI develop process through aligning/resolving product structure issues as the NPI program completes designs to technical requirements/specifications considering design and facility, as well as insuring go to market engineering deliverable are met. Often complex product structure problems faced by the packaging team based on platform (C15 – C175) and market segment (Electric Power, Oil & Gas, Marine) applications. Teams will consist of both internal and external partners, and you will be responsible for ensuring the proper design, integration, application, and ready for market requirements are met for the packaged generator set in each situation. You will be accountable for the planning of project inputs and alignment to NPI process deliverable, understanding of product component application, and stay abreast of innovative technology and requirements that could impact product implementation, coach team members on product structure and processes, and broaden your professional network.

The most desirable candidate will have experience in component or system design, package/engine application, and/or system integration. Additionally, having strong people skills for collaborating with process partners and leading teams to identify and implement solutions for issue resolution. Top candidates will have experience with any of the Med-V, 3500 products, and C175, demonstrated ability to deliver quality results with a sense of urgency, and experience delivering NPI, CPI, and/or cost reduction projects.

The role of the Engineer- Design is to facilitate the team’s cooperation; clearly communicating the requirements and tasks, while gaining input from the team on refinement of same. Oversee their program/project tasks, ensuring driving inputs/connections and implementation tasks are correct and aligned to NPI processes. Communicating with their leader and NPI Program manager on changes required to deliver to requirements.

The BOM-Configuration Engineer-Design acts as spokesperson for the team in meetings with management on NPI readiness. The team member must develop good networks to enable them to obtain resources and cooperation needed and remove roadblocks so that they can ensure the success of their team. Team members must have strong communication skills and interpersonal skills; as well as, ever increasing skills in the role-based competencies of Managing Vision & Purpose, Decision Quality, and Negotiating.

What you will do:

Participate/lead the project management activities for assigned Generator set product development projectsResponsible for all aspects of the generator set factory Bill of Material (BOM) and component compatibility readinessManage project scope and scheduleDesign BOM product structure to best meet marketing, customer, product and project objectivesWork closely with the purchasing team to identify and develop strategic supply chain partners for generator components and finished goodsEstablishes and maintains compliance with the project timelinesKeep abreast of new technology and facility system requirements for processing ordersParticipate/lead projects on new processes and systems to streamline work flow and/or increase quality outputParticipate and lead product component implementation projectsDemonstrated initiative and sense of urgency relative to customer requirements and creative problem solving across organizational boundariesHigh level of oral, written, and interpersonal communications skillsAbility to maintain utmost discretion and manage confidential and privileged informationAbility work with other team members to research and analyze customer specifications to create design proposals to meet performance, customer and manufacturing requirements

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering or similar is preferred.

Proven analytical, planning, and organization skillsKnowledge of Engine or Package system designsExperience with high speed and medium speed reciprocating engine gensetsQuality focus and experience with quality systemsProven success of 1 or more years designing and developing high power three phase AC synchronous generators in a team environmentKnowledge of but not limited to industry standards and compliance such as NEMA, UL, IEC, IBC, NFPATechnical understanding of material selection, component design practices and DFMEA for electrical and mechanical components of generatorsExperience using ProE, CAD Engineering Tools or Custom Computer Programs to design, develop, and calculate machine performanceKnowledge of engineering manufacturing methods and production processes used to produce complex assemblies.

Product Testing: Knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.

Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product development environment.

Summary Pay Range:

$89,210.00 - $133,810.00
