Design Engineer

Job Description

The Design Engineer is responsible for supporting the business development team by creating equipment concepts, estimating costs, and preparing detailed quotes for customer requests.

Responsibilities

Prepare proposals by developing engineering concepts, accurate cost estimates, and clear written quotes for assigned projects.Collaborate with teams and customers to ensure specifications are understood and proposals meet customer needs.Support kick-off meetings by providing detailed project scope information to internal teams and customers.Manage inquiries and records by responding promptly to proposal requests and maintaining organized documentation.Contribute to business development by assisting with trade shows, sharing ideas for process improvements, and staying informed on new technologies.Visit customers, perform initial development of projects, track quotation cost performance, and maintain positive customer relationships.

Essential Skills

5+ years of experience in applications or mechanical engineering.Design proficiency within Solidworks 2D/3D CAD.Experience with design development of industrial automation and robotic equipment.Ability to create practical, cost-effective equipment ideas and accurate project estimates using customer specs and knowledge of their products and processes.Skilled in recognizing and managing risks while clearly explaining equipment benefits to customers.Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline (preferably Mechanical).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience working in medical device or MedTech industries.Automation design work supporting surgical, vascular, bio-mems, drug delivering, ophthalmic OR diagnostics devices.

Work Environment

This role is based onsite at the Miamisburg, OH facility, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM (flexible). The position requires 10% travel.
