Responsibilities:
In this role, you’ll lead and support a team of drafting and design professionals, helping them stay organized, productive, and on track to meet project deadlines. You’ll look for ways to improve how we work—whether that’s refining processes, boosting equipment performance, or enhancing the quality of our output.
You’ll work closely with your team to interpret firm policies, blueprints, specifications, and job orders, assigning tasks and guiding them through each project. You’ll also tackle staff challenges, help motivate the team, and make recommendations on personnel actions like promotions or transfers.
As part of your day-to-day, you’ll interview and onboard new hires, train employees, and maintain accurate time and production records. You’ll estimate revenue and project costs, coordinate with Project Managers to align department activities with company goals, and pitch in wherever needed to keep things running smoothly.

Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Design and Drafting Technology, GIS, or related field. Strong working knowledge of CAD and GIS software. Five years of experience in Civil or Mechanical design, preferably in the utility industry. Ability to perform civil or mechanical design drafting in a GIS environment is a plus. Strong communication skills and the ability to understand instructions and independently carry out tasks. Previous supervisory experience is preferred. Demonstrated business and personal integrity.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the permitting process, from application submission to approval and inspection scheduling. Understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks related to building permits, property rights, and land use. Proficiency with software and applications for permit tracking, data entry, and reporting. Ability to analyze complex permit issues and find practical solutions while adhering to regulations. Adaptability to changing regulations and procedures, staying current on building codes and industry standards. Strong conflict resolution and collaborative skills for working with colleagues, inspectors, and government agencies. Detail-oriented with the ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including blueprints and construction specifications.Why Join Us?
