Deputy Mechanical Engineering Lead – Onboard Naval Vessel/Radar
**Description** V2X is growing! V2X Mobile Sensors is looking for a **Deputy Mechanical Engineering Lead** to join our team onboard the USNS Howard O. Lorenzen and the Cobra King Platform. The V2X Mobile Sensors (MS) program performs Operations and Maintenance (O&M) for a ship based marine mobile platform with complex multi-mission X-Band and S-Band phased array radar and communication systems which have a sophisticated command & control computing structure, along with communication interfaces and support sub-systems. These systems and the program assigned employees are tasked to primarily operate in the US Indo-Pacific Command's (USINDOPACOM) Area of Responsibility. Our program ensures the COBRA KING (CK) radar and communication systems are ready for operation 24 hours a day for 7-days a week and can support mission operations on very short notice. In performance of this mission, Technology and Surveillance division is seeking a Deputy Mechanical Engineering Lead to assist the Mobile Sensors Program, onboard the Cobra King platform, in performance of the program execution and associated activities. This is a senior position responsible for the supervision and training of day-to-day preventative/corrective maintenance requirements in support of the Cobra King Radar System. This position requires the application of professional technical expertise and guidance to prioritize maintenance, and when necessary, solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufacturer manuals, and/or offsite support suppliers. Coordinates and supervises the activities of onboard personnel, determines and directs specific work assignments, conducts quality management reviews and provides feedback. The individual assigned will be required to advise the Ship Operations Manager (SOM) on planned activities and maintenance. Ensures full and effective employment of assigned personnel to include Collective Bargaining Agreement members (Union). Ensure all work is scheduled and performed in a safe and efficient manner. Responsible for compliance with special programs as assigned. Ensure direct reports are fully compliant with all approved procedures and safety training. Identifies material and special tooling needed to accomplish the daily work assignments. Provides employees with proper training on necessary equipment and systems. Provides technical training and assistance as needed, and/or coordinates outside resources. Will lead and direct a group of three or more individuals at any given time. Performs other duties as assigned. + Type: Rotation style deployments + Location: Full-time assignment to the vessel (no home of record requirement) + Active Secret clearance or higher required + Travel: Company paid OCONUS travel to/from vessel + Must be able to pass Maritime Physical exam IAW Program Performance of Work Statement. **Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:** + Proven work experience in maintenance and mechanical engineering. + Extensive knowledge in the operation and maintenance of electro-mechanical systems, hydraulic motors, highly complex gearboxes, compressors, dehydrators, air handling units, etc. + Experience in performing analysis to determine what system, subsystem and components require action to improve performance. + Ability to comprehend and edit schematic drawings and documentation. + Creativity and analytical skills. + Ability to organize, direct teams and develop local procedures when required. + Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the preparation and presentation of technical briefings. + Active DoD SECRET clearance. + Current U.S. Passport with minimum of 1 year prior to expiration and 3 blank pages. **Desired Knowledge, Skills and Experience** : + Active DoD Top Secret/SCI eligible; will be considered for TS upon hire if desired + Working knowledge of radar cooling systems; specifically pumps, electric motors, pressure regulators, and valves. + Familiar with troubleshooting and repair of analog and digital circuitry including power supplies, fault detection circuitry, microwave components, and waveguide. + Familiarity with mathematical computing and analysis tools knowledge (MatLab, Excel, LabView, etc.). + Familiarity with monopulse and phased array radars. + Familiarity in the proper use and care of various electronic test equipment including logic and spectrum analyzers. + Familiarity with government operations security requirements. + Familiarity with US Navy operations security requirements. + Quality Assurance training and experience. + Familiarity with Transportation Alteration (TRANSALT) package development. **Education Requirements:** + BS in Mechanical Engineering or six years plus of related experience can substitute for education.
